Fool's Gold - Wild Window
Cheers to Summer
Long time, no post! My B, many apologies, though I did want to bring in one last summer hurrah before my FAVORITE season begins tomorrow! Why not bring in a little island flavor. The best band for the call: Fool's Gold. It's not just the gold of the foolish, it is also a very inventive band that blends the soul of island flavor into something completely their own.
Here is something I got way back on September 29th 2009. Yup, iTunes told me the day I “purchased” it, which I didn't because it was free. It’s called ‘Surprise Hotel’ and it’s completely in Hebrew, but awesome all the same. The entire album is actually in Hebrew if I’m not wrong, which I could be. But I've seen the physical CD and the sleeve had the lyrics definitely in another language that I at least thought was Hebrew. Considering the band's original collaborator immigrated from Israel, it's a safe bet for now.
Anyway, about two years later the second album found its way to my desk at the university radio station and I immediately fell in love with these songs: ‘Wild Window’ featured below, ‘Street Clothes’ (Live) and ‘Bark and Bite’.
As I mentioned before, they generally have an island rhythm undertone, or overtone, since it’s pretty noticeable. Nevertheless, it’s not island music in the way Bob Marley is, but more the use of instruments that lends to the sound.
I dig the Superhumanoids so much. I am loving this remix they did for Fools Gold.
