This is my Oscar Wilde, but sadly he doesn't share the birthday. 🙄 so happy birthday to the OG!
Canadian born actor, writer, producer, singer, and songwriter Lilianna Wilde started her career writing music for film and television.
She is known for her roles in “Mac Daddy & the Lovers” (Writer/director Mac Jay) and the short “OverAgain” (Writer/director Marc Pannia and writer Lilianna Wilde). She is currently working on her upcoming EP “WildeONE.”
When did you know you wanted to be a professional singer. Is there a story behind it?
“It was writing that made me want to sing. I came to Los Angeles with the intention of screenwriting, and ended up writing songs for one of the shorts I was working on. At the time, I didn’t know very many people in music, and figured I’d have to sing the songs myself. And that’s what started opening all of the doors. I fell in love with songwriting, with crafting syllables and sounds, which allowed me to find singing.”
Who inspired you to become a performer in your family. Would you tell us about them and how they inspired you?
“I’m really lucky to have such a supportive family, although neither of my parents are artists or musicians, they’ve always encouraged us to explore art. I danced most of my life, I found music later, but I always had a creative outlet. Now that I’m into music, my dad likes to fancy himself a songwriter, every time I’m home, he makes me get out the guitar and he starts humming random words… he calls himself “Rick Ruben” and acts like he’s producing the song. It’s fun.
“I actually ended up with one of my favorite songs, called Restless Soul, from one of those “sessions” [Laughs]. So it’s nice to have that memory of my dad attached to that song.”
When you write music, is it a surreal experience?
“It all depends on the song, sometimes it’s magic; one of the only experiences that can’t be described in words, I could assume most closely compared to falling in love. Sometimes it’s a craft, where you toil over every single word. When that final puzzle piece falls into place, it’s the best feeling. To know that you started at some point that day with nothing, and now have this complete moment you can share, really is surreal.”

Tell us about your upcoming EP “wildeONE.”
“It’s almost ready! It’s been a long time coming, and sometimes when you double as a writer, other projects get in front of your own. But I’m happy it’s taken the time it has. I feel like the writing is right where it needs to be and it’s ready to put the final touches on.”
“Nick Cooper is rad! He’s an amazing vocal coach and finds a way to pull the best out of you even when you’re at your worst.”
How would you describe your genre?
“For me, it all starts with the lyrics, so that’s really what ties all of my music together. Although I love to write in almost any genre, what I’m working on as an artist is really acoustic based. Singer songwriter in style.”
Tell us about Nick Cooper and his influence on your music career.
“Nick Cooper is rad! He’s an amazing vocal coach and finds a way to pull the best out of you even when you’re at your worst. Beyond lip drills, warm up and technique – he made me believe in myself as a singer. I think that’s the biggest thing anyone can do for your career, prove to their student that they indeed are capable.”
You recently co-wrote and acted in a film called “OverAgain.”
“The idea for “OverAgain” was sitting in my writing graveyard for almost three years. It was a story I wrote to process my first real big heartbreak in LA. Lots of songs came out of him too … actually lots of songs still do [Laughs]! But I wanted to tell the story as a narrative too.
“My brother, Marc Pannia, is a writer/director, so when I pitched him the idea, we almost instantly went to work on re-writing and producing it. The film was accepted to the Cannes Short Film Corner, so we’ll be heading to France this May for the festival.”
“Film and music really are synonyms of each other, just different mediums to tell a story.”
Is it interesting to see your ideas take shape into a film?
“It’s so nice to see stories visually. Film and music really are synonyms of each other, just different mediums to tell a story. With “OverAgain,” it was the first time I worked with my brother, so having him shape the story was really cool to watch.”
What is next for you?
“Oh… who knows! The priory is getting the EP out this May, which I’m really looking forward to, and then seeing where it takes me! I used to have very detailed plans of what I wanted and when, I quickly learned nothing goes according to that plan [Laughs]. What’s next is always saying yes to new challenges and opportunities that arise and never stop writing.”
