Reading a brilliant article in The Guardian today describing how ancient mycelium rings may be the key to climate change acting as huge carbon sinks and how if the trees are the Earth’s lungs, then fungi mycelium is the essential circulatory system, storing and distributing carbon where needed for plant growth. These gigantic areas hidden under the ground are now being mapped and will hopefully be given protection status from land development and agriculture.
