Horned One

Squirrel scurries deep in twilit forest

For here in these depths its food is buried

Hidden form flickers, firmly established

In bastion of silence moves unhurried

Quiet ironstill woods harbor their own

And some who in their dim depths tarried

Deer desire, sometimes, just to be alone

So to solace in deepwoods have scurried

A command is issued and then obeyed

Which even stronger men never parried

Instead on their knees desperately prayed

Still around their bodies grow willow reed

Words that ring loud here in the still quiet

Words that are mightier than any creed

That have power here only by their right

That with purpose and fury are married

Do not disturb what is beyond your ken

Do not meddle with Lord of dale and fen

If he calls to you, approach carefully

Avert your gaze if you value your mind

He does not hold special love for our kind

Respect him well, but treat him warily

For the King of the Wilds cannot be tame

Consider his words and liquor the same

But think not to walk away merrily

His words are far more potent than liquor

And last much longer
