while the seemingly 'simple' things that make up a typical vampire's psychology, like emotions and morality, tend to be magnified while being vampires, thanatics have a hell of a tougher time even trying to
such things. this is why having an 'emotions' toggle simply don't cut it. thanatics don't have to be
but they're technically dead
. feeling simple emotions might have to be something a thanatic learns how to do as simply feeling them on any level will not be in their particular embedding.
● emotions: on not quite void of humanity but not the vampire they used to be, thanatics with their emotions on are akin to pure apathy over anything else. emotions are a constant roller coaster of a struggle for them, with many of thanatics existing simply based on habit. their moral centers are more aligned with what they feel comfortable with, but it doesn't necessarily equate 'good' or 'evil'. with their emotions on, thanatics might honor their humanity and do what they can to preserve it.
● emotions: off darker thanatics have no shred of humanity left in them at all. they're ten times the predatory hunters than typical vampires. they're colder and more cut off from the souls they used to have (thanatics are virtually soulless anyhow) they do what they please when they please to do it without any sort of fear for consequences. feelings towards humans typically exist on a self-sustainment basis only. also, feelings towards people in their past might not exist, meaning family and former lovers are just another face in the crowd. thanatics who've suffered from total memory wipe will likely have their emotions off. the person the thanatic used to be prior to becoming a vampire is still there. emotionless thanatics just have to work harder at getting back to that person.
xi. characteristics
● thanatics maintain all of their standard vampiric abilities and characteristics like this one:
vampires are powerful and strong, extremely agile and able to move like the speed of light. their reflexes are out of this world. they appear exactly as they did before death, and their bodies will forever remain that way no matter how long they wind up existing. because of this, there is no definitive characteristic of a skin tone, complexion, height or weight, but when a vampire's true face is revealed the whites of their eyes will turn bloodshot and red, veins will appear near their eyes and they will almost always bare fangs.
● the flower amaranthus also informally known as blood flower, has no effect on thanatics like it does vampires.
● thanatics are not completely void of emotions, it's just a whole hell of a lot harder for them to tap into them than it is for regular vampires. having died twice, they're a whole different type of beast than a standard vampire.
● unlike vampires, an increased influx of magic used against them will not kill a thanatic. it can severely weaken it though.
● wolf bites do not affect thanatics.
xii. weakness and death
● thanatics can be killed by violent means, but it'll take a very powerful being (another thanatic) or a team of powerful beings to take them out for once and for all.
● thanatic blood is lethal to other thanatics, especially in high doses. this means thanatics could never form a blood bond with another thanatic.
xii. blood on blood
thanatic blood comes with powerful perks. for starters, it's highly addictive to any supernatural species that dares ingests it. it might not taste as delicious as other species, but it'll make the user stronger for a substantially long period of time. it'll enhance the user's natural abilities. for example, for a human thanatic blood will make them feel quite high (and strong) for a lot longer as they will be able to hang onto that high for a lot longer as well. for other supes like witches or sirens, their natural abilities will be lasting and far-reaching. for vampires, they'll be (a lot) stronger and will inhabit that thanatic's active power for a brief period. if the vampire forms a blood bond with that thanatic, the longer the blood share the longer the vampire will reap the benefits of the active power from the thanatic they drank from.
xiii. awareness
thanatics are so new that the world knows practically nothing about them. they're a much gossiped about myth in vampire and witch circles outside of the northeast (where thanatics usually reside). task force x knows nothing about them. they're one of the few supernatural species off of generally everyone's radar enabling the element of surprise for thanatic existence and ability.
