This was one of the craziest photoshoots we ever had! 🤪📸 - We arrived at a beautiful lake after a 2 hour bike ride and saw a stunning photoshoot going on with a bride and groom. 👰🏻🤵🏽 After a couple of minutes of walking around taking in the views the photographer and his crew approached us and asked us if they could shoot us. - Seconds after we said yes we had a drone flying over us and 3 photographers shooting us from all different angels. Lee, the lead photographer, was a crazy little guy, diving around (literally), rolling on the ground and calling to his colleagues to capture this and that and it was all really quite hilarious to be a part of. This is a photo from an awesome early Autumn wedding I had photographed, and have been working on editing this week. And this is one of my favourite photographs from that wedding. Why? Well, I just really love the mixture of textures in the photograph; the twists and folds of the pattern of the bride’s hair, the shiny clasp and pearls of her necklace, her beautiful smooth skin, and the warm, soft, fur (vegan), of her wrap. I also love that she is hiding her lovely face from us so perhaps we are intrigued to know more. And yet she is framed by the darker contrast of the grooms outline facing towards her. But we do not see his face either, making the moment seem more private as a quiet moment only shared by the two of them. But also I love it because It was a chance photograph, totally natural and unplanned. I say this because the bride had originally been wearing a full length veil, but the strong, gusty, sea-breeze was having none of that and a few seconds before, had twisted up and then whipped the veil away, tossing it up high into the air and determinedly leading the groom on a merry dance as he chased after to catch and tame it, before returning to his bride who was now a little more exposed! Being outside,, walking or running with Floss my dog, in the countryside, being near water or the sea, seeing or being in warm (or any kind of) sunshine or seeing interesting clouds/light/skies, bird song, music, dancing, exploring new places, travel, going to exhibitions/galleries, gardening, not gardening when it’s too cold/wet,, being with lovely happy people (like when I’m working at weddings!!), enjoying borrowing other people’s families and friends for the day when I’m photographing weddings or family shoots,, enjoying being with my own family instead of other people’s families, photographing weddings and still loving my dream job, staying home feeling cosy, watching films, reading books,, working from home,, me time - clean clothes, clean house, Marie Kondo-ing my stuff,, a warm house, , having hot and fresh drinking water out of the taps,, having friends, meeting new people,, helping people and my communities,, giving good service to my clients, having 2 kids now grown up and happy and still all in one piece (so far!), being healthy, being alive: I actually can’t think of anything I don’t love or that doesn’t bring me joy! , Let me know what lifts your soul: : And whilst preparing my top 9 posts in 2019 I also found my top 9 posts for 2028 too ooops!! oooh what a typo!! So as we really move forward into January, I’ve had a look back at 2019 and wow! What a year it’s been. So much to learn, so many fabulous photos, so many wonderful weddings, fabulous friends and families, and so much fun! So here are my top 9 for 2019 - and I’m delighted to see that some of my favourite photos made it in here too! So here’s every good wish to you all for 2020! And I’m taking a day or so out to review what was fabulous about 2019 and what things were a bloody good learning curve, and the review process will help me to create my plans and strategies for 2020. : : I do have a word for 2020 - it’s Focus - this will help me keep focused on my customers, my goals, my plans but also remind me to continue to remain focused on creativity in my photography. I do have a second word which never changes year on year - it is Sparkle! And it just reminds me to always add a touch of sparkle to everything I do but also it’s one of my daughter’s nicknames / words and so for me, personally, it means even though @alischo lives on the other side of the planet in Australia, she’s at the same time, never far from my thoughts!! : What about you? I’ve always loved confetti! It’s just another reason why I love being a full-time wedding photographer! This was such a wonderful wedding at a very pretty venue in London. And the bride and groom got showered in plenty of confetti by all of their good friends and family.
