Where was Esca? She needed him.
They had been ripped apart when those creatures had come and whilst she had been dragged aboard, her friend had been left alone. She tried to reach out with her mind to him but felt his presence muffled and faint. That thing they had put inside her head was fighting for dominance of her and smothering all else. He was alive, that much she was sure of, and she felt a stab of worry from him.
Morren's head throbbed as she stumbled up the beach and into the familiar safety of the forest. She knew she would be safer there. The forest was home. The forest was familiar. The crashed mindflayer ship lay like a broken corpse all around her, smouldering with a smell almost like cooking meat which only made her feel sick.
There had been others on the ship. She had seen their shadowed forms in the pods. Had they escaped too? She hoped so. The thought of their flesh being cooked as she stumbled by made her stomach heave even more.
Finally she reached the trees and her knees gave out. Morren slumped against the bark on her hands and knees as she tried to fight off the nausea and lost. It was all too much for her at that point as she felt tears starting to stream.
Silvanus. Please...help me.
