Characters from "Tunnels" part 1 When will I make the second part? Who knows...
My sister knows what kind of gifts I appreciate.
Stickers by @lacefedora and Will Burrows. Links to their shops in the reblog!
i loved the books series Tunnels as a wee preteen and am now in the process of reading it and oh my god? these books were so intense? just in deeper there’s mass executions of coprolites by firing squad, state-funded breeding centers for coprolites? the humanoid specimens dissected and preserved in jars that are blown up in a later scene and strewn across the floor ‘like fish’? humans covered in boils suffering from experimental viruses screaming to be let out of their cells? not to mention the other stuff i remember faintly from the later books, like everything to do with Martha. no wonder these books permanently altered my brain chemistry. macrodosing on horror through my middle grade novels at age ten…
Currently reading: “Terminal” by Roderick Gordon
I don’t expect this series to have a very huge fandom around Tumblr, but just like another fandom I encounter here, I love the way the fans see the series: the way they show their love by making some serious, ridiculous, funny, half-serious, or supposedly serious comments, the way they talk about the stories like they are really part of it, and the way they discuss the characters like they are talking about some neighbor kids. So, now, I guess I want to talk a little about my experience when reading this series. 😁
My little contribution to the Tunnels fandom
I was re-reading Terminal and came across this:
Once Elliott had showered for a second time, Will slid their Bergens and their equipment into the entrance, and Elliott soaked it all in the germicide. Then she called out to Will that she was ready.
“My turn,” he said to Woody, uncomfortable because the bushman made no effort to avert his eyes as he stripped off all his clothes.
– Terminal | Second Part - The Tower | Chapter 12
Bushman? More like blushman.
This is exactly how it happened and no one can convince me otherwise.
