i take fic recs very seriously so please note that i’ve deeply considered all of these . also please note that i’m a jedleo / jedleoabbey fan first and foremost which definitely influenced this list :)
“And If You Try Sometime You Just Might Find” by thedeadparrot – quite possibly my favorite jla fic ever. not super long by fic standards, but gets the job done with remarkable economy. highly recommend to anyone interested in this ship or even just the dynamics between these three characters
“the divine office” by @solar-settings – terrific fic that’s actually the first in a jla trilogy. zee is one of those authors where i will read anything she writes. i highly recommend you go through all her tww fics, and this one is as good a place to start as any. also shoutout to “mind-body problem”, another one of my faves by her
“fred jones part 2” by furies – i consider this fic essential reading for anyone who cares about leo mcgarry. it’s a character piece as opposed to ship-related, but it’s gorgeously written and it breaks my heart every time
“Liberalism by Sunlight” by Delightfully Eccentric – one of a five-part au series, this one is jedleo + cjabbey in a hollywood au. i love it because it’s a great premise executed perfectly; before writing up this list, it had been Literal years since i last read this one, and i Still randomly recall lines from it
“Thine is the Kingdom” by Delightfully Eccentric – another one of the five aus. cardinal jed and political operative leo, not quite slash but definite homoerotic undertones. again: great premise, gorgeously rendered. again, i still remember random lines
“how we got by” by @muldxr – beautiful, beautiful samtoby work. another author whose stuff is reliably great and you should read all of it, with a bonus being that they write lots of ships, including many toby pairings !!
“christmas (baby, please come home)” by @stellagibs0ns – one of my all-time favorite cjtoby fics from my all-time favorite cjtoby author. i recommend it because it’s an excellent concept, it’s extremely well-written, and since you’re looking for toby-centric stories, i think this should be right up your alley (even though it’s cj’s pov, it’s a terrific toby character piece). kate is a spectacular writer whose work i adore, and i highly recommend you check out all her tww stuff
“too wise to woo peaceably” by jazzjo – riotously fun cjandy theater au. another great author with tons of great fics, especially on the femslash side, and lots of really insightful toby character pieces, too. also, just a magnificent prose stylist. read it all !!
“narcissus 2.0” by @callixton – i’d be remiss recommending queer tww fics and queer toby fics without mentioning this terrific author who also organizes the annual tww pride event !! i am particularly fond of his samtoby and joshtoby stories, but he’s another great writer with a lot of great stuff you should totally check out :)
“All I Ask” by @bartletslesbians – great cj & leo piece from a reliably great cj author. she has a ton of really wonderful stories, so i’d highly recommend just going to her profile and poking around. i’m sure you’ll find something you like :)
“Winter Wonderland” by arborealstops – really lovely jedleoabbey fluff. short and sweet, definitely worth a read :)
“Open Wings” by ruby_fruit – this is kind of an outlier from the rest of the list simply because its premise is so outlandish, but it’s very well-executed and i really dig it. give it a try !!
