There's a warped view on Christ's teaching going around, at least on tumblr.
"Just because your sin is different from theirs doesn't mean you're right"
Are you kidding me? This is often in context with gay-marriage and abortion related topics. All sin is sin.
Compromising with what's current and your own belief doesn't make it correct or Christ-like.
Christ loved everyone. The people He loved the most, He corrected and showed them what was up and with LOVE.
You can love someone and not agree with something they do.
Loving one another does not mean: I accept any/everything you do and that it's correct. Where's the Scripture on that? Love can be tough, discipline and correcting with love.
will> not> conform>
to the individuals belonging to the conformist nation of a campus i live on who didn't like my long hippie skirt today… basically my brother's friend who just visited, wth colson (but probably others..)
well i lovvved it and it makes me feel good and it's fun to dance in and it's the most comfortable thing i own and it was sooo cheap and it provoked a reaction in you.. so yes, i'll wear it proudly many a times to come.
[love pointless rants while i study.]
and this isn't just about a stupid skirt, but about everything single thing that people make constant judgements on. my roommate likes different music than me, my friends like doing different things than i do, people don't have the same political or religious views as you… but so what? it doesn't mean that they are wrong or are in any sense of the word worse. i have been guilty of saying 'hey your taste in music sucks' before… but just because i don't like it doesn't mean its bad. it's good to them. maybe appreciation lies on intricate instrumentals or maybe you only care about catchy lyrics. point is - someone's taste isn't 'bad' per say it's just different. it's there own.
