Summary: Will realises he's made the wrong decision.
Companion piece to:
Ambition - Will contemplates the future.
Traffic Lights - Will makes a mistake regarding his plans for the weekend.
Will can’t stop thinking about the camping trip, about the fact that right now he could be sitting by a waterfall, pitching a tent in more ways than one. Instead, he’s here with Em putting a bunch of teenagers through their paces as they run through the junior lifeguard exercises they’ve set them.
“You’re moody today.” She tells him as he clasps the clipboard to his chest, the wood creaking with the force of how hard he’s gripping it.
No, he thinks, I’m a fucking asshole who should be fucking his girl by a waterfall right now.
“Can you do this without me?” He asks her, tilting his face towards her. Her eyebrows rise behind her aviators as that haughty expression crosses her features.
“Yeah.” She says flatly, her mouth forming a pout. “But I don’t wanna.”
Will’s eyes narrow because he’s at an impasse right now.
If he stays, you’re gone. They’ll be no more nights spent wrapped up in you, afternoons licking strawberry daiquiris off your skin. You’ll go back to what you were before, the paramedic he runs into when someone’s dumb enough to hurt themselves on the beach.
If he leaves then he’s finally letting go of all that history he was with Em. He’s sending her a clear message that it’s over, that there isn’t a chance in hell of reconciliation. It should be a no brainer but somehow, it’s so fucking hard because he was going to marry this woman, have children with her.
“You know I’ve been seeing Lana, right?” He asks and Em shrugs her shoulders in response to his words. “She asked me to go camping this weekend but instead I’m here doing this with you.”
There’s a flash of triumph on her features and he purses his lips together, exhaling though his nose because the words he’s about to say, they’re going to change everything.
“I made the wrong choice.” He tells her, shoving the clipboard into her arms. “I gotta go.”
He’s in his Jeep before she can stop him, hurtling towards the secluded camping spot that your dad used to take you before he passed away five years ago. You like to go up there when you need a reset, a quiet place away from the rest of the world. The fact you offered to share that with him…
Like he said, he’s an asshole.
He parks the Jeep next to your battered car before he hikes the way up, his rucksack of emergency supplies slung over his shoulder. There’s a spare shirt, some undies and a couple of powerbars he had in the glove compartment.
Your tent is already up by the time he makes it to the waterfall; he hears the rush of water through the trees before he breaks away from the trail into your private oasis. His gaze comes to land on the pile of clothes resting on the shore before he locates you in the water. You’re floating on your back, naked as the day you were born, your eyes closed.
You look so peaceful in that moment, so relaxed.
He strips out of his own clothes, leaving them tangled up in yours before he lowers himself into the hot spring. The heat rolls over his skin, soothing away the aches in his muscles from yesterday’s punishing work out.
You must feel the water ripple as he approaches, it against his chest as he sinks deeper, paddling out towards you. You right yourself, bobbing in place as he approaches.
“Lana.” He says, cradling your face between his hands. “Lana, I’m so sorry, I was an idiot-”
You steal his breath away, silencing him with a kiss and he knows that all is forgiven because he’s here now and that means that Will, he chose you.

The one thing that Will can never get enough of is the way that strawberry daiquiri tastes off your skin. He dips his fingers into the ice, smearing the liquid across the curve of your breasts, chasing the flavour with his tongue. His thumb teases that hardening nipple to it’s peak underneath the fabric of your bikini.
“Colour?” He whispers, his teeth grazing the slender strap.
The two of you are outside on the veranda of your house, tangled up on the plush lounger you’re reclining on. Your book is long forgotten, the daiquiris starting to melt in the heat of the afternoon sun.
“It could be green if you promise to go camping with me this weekend.” You murmur, your fingertips running down his bare back, scratching just enough to make his dick twitch.
“I can’t.” He whispers, his teeth grazing that naughty little spot underneath the hinge of your jaw. “I told Em I’d do junior this lifeguards with her this weekend…”
He feels the switch flip as soon as he says it. Your hands still and your body tenses. He withdraws because Will, he can read a red light from a mile away.
“Alright.” He says, raising into a sitting position to give you a little space. “I can tell when I’ve fucked up.”
“It’s fine.” You respond as you reach for the sheer coverall and drape it over your body, shielding it from his view. “You’ve got shit to do and I have clearly made a mistake.”
You raise to your feet, picking up the still full daiquiri glasses before retreating to the kitchen. Will follows you, snatching up his t-shirt and tugging it back on over his broad shoulders.
“Lana…” He begins but you shake your head your glossy hair bouncing across your shoulders as you tip the cocktails away, running the tap so the alcohol disappears down the drain.
“I’ve got a lot of stuff to do today.” You say without looking at him as you pick up the sponge and start to scrub at the glass. “I’d appreciate it if you see yourself out.”
“Lana, me and Em…” He tries again but you’re already shutting down and he knows better than to push.
“You wanna spend the only weekend you have off in the month with your ex, it’s fine.” You tell him, shrugging your shoulders. “It won’t stop me taking that trip.”
He understands what you’re saying in that moment. You won’t hang around waiting for him if he’s still caught up on ex, you won’t be the rebound before he goes back to her.
“Alright.” He says quietly because he despite the past few nights you’ve spent together he isn’t entirely sure you’re wrong about the position you hold on his life. “I’ll just go then.”
“Yea.” You say as you continue to scrub at the glass. “You probably should.”

It’s the words that ring in Will’s head whenever he lays eyes on Em, the reminder that of cut she made to his heart, severing the valves before she tore it right out of his chest. He feels that acutely when he’s in her presence despite the fact he plays it cool.
He'd shut down completely after she left, didn’t date, didn’t fuck just kept his head down and focused on his dream of being a firefighter because while she had ambitions, he did too. They’d just become forgotten about in the pursuit of her dream.
And now his own have been dashed, because even though he scored in the top percentile of the Honolulu FD Fire Test, his face, it doesn’t quite fit so that fresh start he was hoping for, it’s gone. He’s heart broken all over again, which is why he’s sitting on the sand, sipping a beer and staring at the sea as the sun starts to lower in the distance.
“I’ll give you a dollar for them.” You say as you sit down alongside him and he tilts his head towards you with that sullen expression on his sun-kissed features.
“You’d be wasting your money.” He informs you and you shrug your shoulders.
“It’s my money to waste.” You counter and despite the absolute shittiness of the day he finds himself smiling.
You always do this to him, whenever he gets in his own head, you’re there like a ray of sunshine to brighten his day with some silly remark. This thing between the two of you, it may be new but it’s been coming for a while. Will was just too ruined to do anything with it until an evening just like this one when you kissed him on beach.
You’d tasted like strawberries from the wine cooler you’d been drinking, the scent of coconut sun lotion clinging to your skin as he’d undressed you under the moonlight. He’d spent hours making love to you on the sand, the stars shining brightly in the sky above. He’d drowned in you that night, immersed himself in your ocean and when he’d finally come up for air, he felt like a new man.
One that worthy of all the good things that life had to give him.
“I didn’t get in.” He says finally, setting the beer bottle down. “I’m not sure if it was ever what I wanted anyway or if it was just a good distraction after Em. I’m…” He pauses then, trying to puzzle out the words he’s searching for. “I guess I’m a little lost right now. I don’t really know where I’m heading…”
The words hang between the two of you reminding Will that as a partner he doesn’t have that much to offer. He’s a man that works with his ex and is struggling to come to terms with the fact his only chance of escape has just been torpedoed. He’s not the type of guy you should be jumping into a relationship with right now but here you are doing just that.
“Come on.” You say lightly, your fingers entwining with his before you pull him to his feet. “The let’s go grab dinner and see if can figure it out together.”
Together… Will thinks as he picks up his beer bottle to toss in the recycling can.
Will likes the sound of that.

A - Alone time (how do they get off when they’re all by themselves? do they watch porn, is it all in their imagination, do they jerk off, do they use toys?)
Will always wakes up with morning wood, always. He usually takes care of it in bed or the shower. If he has the time he’ll watch a video, it’s usually something passionate and realistic. If he has a video of you on his phone he’s jacking off to that. If he’s more rushed, he’s touching himself in the shower, fucking his hand, thinking about the last time you were together.
E - Extra info (any other fetishes? feet? leather? role playing? blood? fantasies that they might want to experience not on this list?)
Has a thing for strong women, really likes it when both are completely unrestrained, scratching, biting, primal type fucking. Sometimes he really enjoys losing complete control.
K - Kissing (what parts of their body do they like having kissed? what parts of their partner do they enjoy kissing? do they like leaving marks / having marks left on them?)
His mouth, there are so many different types of kisses, he wants to experience every single one of them with you. Due to the nature of his job, leaving marks can be an issue so you use lipstick marks to remind him exactly who he belongs to, on the nights he craves that sense of belonging.
Loves the curve of your throat, it always gets you going if he starts kissing you there, especially if you tucked against him.
M - Masochism (do they like pain? scratching? biting? being bossed around? spoken down to? choked?)
Will does like a little pain, it complements the pleasure, heightening it. The only problem is he can’t have marks left on him due to work, which is where the pinwheel comes in. The sensation of it drives Will crazy because he gets that glorious, pleasure/pain without having to worry about being marked up.
