It's Jonathan Frakes' birthday today! Which meeeeans, happy birthday to Will Riker, my favorite orange cat coded first officer :)

It’s come to my attention that people exist who haven’t seen Patrick Stewart cracking up and cuddling Jonathan Frakes when he keeps blowing his line.

me experiencing gender envy for the first time was so funny.

Because whenever I would watch tng and riker would show up (specifically when he grew a beard and got more chubby), i felt this weird intense jealously I never felt before, I was so confused, until I kept thinking about it and realised, oh shit, I want to look like him

Then the same thing happened with q (at a lesser extent but still)

can you pls gush about riker some?!! was he your favorite next gen character from the start or did he grow on you? what are some of your favorite people for him to interact with? do you have any favorite moments with him you like to think about???

I ABSOLUTELY CAN AND WILL.

Picard was my favorite at first because how could he not be? But Riker quickly grew on me because he's so dutiful but warm and funny in a way that feels wry but not mean. Also he's handsome 🤭 I definitely have a crush on him. I mean, look at those baby blues 😍

I love him interacting with Deanna, of course. They're sweet and subtle so their interactions usually feel very warm and cozy to me. And I love how he and Picard engage. There's so much unspoken trust and respect between them, it's delicious.

And speaking of: favorite moment is Riker deciding to fire on the Borg Collective once it's clear that Picard is "gone." What a heavy decision, and I know he started grieving once he made it, but he knew it was the right thing to do. That's true leadership right there. No wonder Picard and the rest of the crew trust him.

Honorable mention: literally any scene in which he laughs. Again, those eyes 😍
