It’s School Time In The Padalecki Household Part One
Pairing: Jared x Reader, Mom!Reader x Tom x Shep
Word Count: 1k
"C'mon Tom! It's school time!" You cheered, dancing around his bedroom, in an effort to wake him up.
"Do I have to?" He mumbled.
"Yes, dad, mom and I will be there!"
"Does that mean Shep is coming too?" Thomas sighed.
"Yes, Tom, but you love your brother!"
Tom sat up in his bed and yawned, rubbing his eyes. Genevieve and Jared aren't the typical Exs. You would think they'd want nothing to do with each other, excluding their kids together. But no, they were quite content and Genevieve adored you, as you did her. You bent down to pick some toys up off Tom's floor, your baby bump coming in the way.
"Oh I got that mom," Tom offered, jumping off his bed to get the toys for you, "daddy told me I needed to help out as much as possible!" He smiles.
"Why thank you, young gentleman. You're just like your father!"
"Is Samantha coming too?" He giggles.
"Where ever I go, Sam goes." You laugh at your step-son, tickling him.
How ironic you and Jared would name your baby 'Sam'.
"So momma Gen is coming too?"
"Mhmm," you smile. "Hey and guess what! Daddy's cooking bacon and eggs!"
"Yay!" The little boy cheered.
You proceeded to pick out a nice shirt for Thomas to wear on his first day of grade one. Plus a nice pair of pants to go with it. He changed immediately and raced you down over the stairs. You didn't run, afraid you'd slip, you are a clutz after all.
"Hey, Mr. Grade one!" Jared high fived Tom as he walked past.
"Hi, dad!" The little boy smiled.
Jared smiled towards you, "Do you mind running up and getting Shep too?"
"Nope, I don't mind!" You return the smile, as you turned around to head up over the stairs.
You reached Shep's room and entered quietly. He was solidly asleep, curled up in the fetus position with the blankets up to his neck. You pulled the blankets back and gave him a kiss.
"Mmm- hi mom." He yawned, putting his arms around your neck, as he did to most everyone. He pulled back and got down close to your stomach. "Hi, Sam!"
You took his hand and placed it on your stomach.
"Feel that? Sam likes it when you talk." You giggle.
Tom was too young to remember Gen's pregnancy with Shep. It's like a whole new experience, he was sad when Tom found out he was probably going to be in school when the baby was born.
"Stupid school." He had said.
Once Samantha stopped brutally kicking you, you hopped up, grabbing a nice t-shirt and jeans for Shep, helping him change, he jumped up in your arms and you brought him downstairs where you knew breakfast was ready. Quite frankly the smell of bacon made you sick. Tom laced into his, couldn't get enough of it! Shep was the same way, always wanted to be like his big brother. After breakfast Tom rushed to the bathroom, eager to brush his teeth.
"At least he's excited." You smiled toward Jared.
"You going to eat anything, sweetheart?" Jared worried.
"I'm not hungry Jared, I'll get something when I get back."
You were interrupted by a sweet little boy who needs help with the toothpaste. You helped Tom out, the Jared brought Shep out to brush his teeth.
"Alright, boys! Get your shoes on!" Jared exclaimed.
Both boys ran out to the front porch, Shep struggling to slip on his shoes whereas Tom had lace-ups, which he knew how (and was excited ) to tie them up. Surprisingly, it was rather chilly. Both boys pulled on their jackets, as well as you and Jared. Shep put his arms into the 'uppie' position. Wanting to be carried as well, Tom asked to be carried too.
As Jared was taking Shep up into his arms, he turned to Tom, "you're a big boy now Tom! You can walk, "he chuckled, "plus mom isn't feeling all that well."
"Okay." He huffed, scuffing his feet.
"Pick up your feet," Jared warned.
You four met Genevieve at the school.
"Hey, buddy!" She gave Tom a hug, "you already for school?"
He nodded, hugging her back.
"And how's my other lil' man?" She tickled Shep.
"Good momma." He smiled.
"How are you both this morning?" She turned to you and Jared.
"We're okay," Jared smiled, "Y/N still has some morning sickness."
"At thirty-two weeks? Good luck to ya." Gen smiled, giving you a hug as well.
The five of you entered the school. You found Tom's classroom and walked him down. Genevieve sat to the side with Shep in her arms, you and Jared sat right next to her. It was an information session, where is the parents have any questions on what their child will be learning, they can ask. Tom was more than happy to sit with some friends. He kept looking back to make sure you were all still there. In discomfort, you laid your head down on Jared's shoulder. You rubbed your swollen belly, nothing seemed to ease the pain.
"You okay?" Jared whispered.
"Yeah- yeah. Fine." You winced.
You wanted Tom to have a great day! Hoping Jared would leave it alone, you looked back over to Tom. You, Jared and Genevieve, had worries about Tom being bullied. Jensen and Danneel have the same worry for their little girl. Tom looked like he was having the time of his life!
"Now, if there are no further questions from parents, I'd like for the parents to say goodbye to their little boys and girls." Madame Murrin smiled.
Tom rushed over and hugged both you and Jared, the Genevieve and Shep.
Jared's POV
"Hey, little man! How was school?"
"It was pretty good." Tom smiled me while I buckled him into his seat. "Where's mom?"
"Momma Gen and Momma Y/N are at the house. With Shep and aunt Danneel."
Jensen met us out in the car with JJ in tow from kindergarten.
"How was it, princess?" I smiled at JJ.
"Good," she replied. "I wanted mommy there."
"Mom wasn't feeling well was she?" I frowned.
"The twins make her sickie all the time." JJ frowns towards me.
"Yeah, it sucks, aunt Y/N wasn't feeling great today either, the baby likes to kick her a lot." I chuckle getting into the car with Jensen.
We drove home and the kids told us all about their day! Exciting things happen it grade one and kindergarten, who knew kids threw erasers at each other.
The Unexpected Perks of Being a Nanny~ Chapter Nine
Pairing: Jared x Reader
Word Count: 2.2k
Warnings: swearing, implied smut.
You stood there, frozen. It was like every muscle in your body was locked in place- not letting you move. You looked like a moose caught in the headlights- the headlights belonging to a semi-truck. Jared looked back over to you, waving for you to come out. You felt like your throat was about to close over and your mouth had dried up from all the nervousness. All the ladies, plus Matt, Richard, Rob and Misha came up behind you.
“Go out there!” They all whispered.
You took one step forward before it felt like there was a force pushing you back. Now Jensen was looking back towards you too, wondering why you weren’t out on stage. Jared hopped up off his stool and made his way over to the opening of the stage.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart?” He worried.
“I-I don’t know… What- What if they don’t like me?” Your voice was shaky.
“I’m sure they’ll love you, Y/N. Let’s just take it one step at a time okay?”
You knew he meant that figuratively and literally. He slipped his hand over yours and gave it a tight squeeze. You held onto his hand tightly as he led you out onto the stage. The crowd cheered. You took a deep breath and looked back to everyone who was still backstage. They were giving you thumbs up and they had smiles on their faces. You looked up to Jared, who held you close. He smiled down at you. Jared took a seat on his stool and pulled you down into his lap. You wrapped your arms around his neck.
“I’d like you guys to give Y/N a warm welcome, she’s a little bit shy.” Jared murmured into the microphone.
The fans cheered louder and you waved at them shyly.
“Do y’all have any questions for her?”
Scattered throughout the auditorium, several fans raised their hands.
“Y/N, would you like to pick?” Jared whispered into your ear.
You nodded yes. You took the mic from Jared.
“Uh... the girl in the blue under armour sweater in the second row?” You pointed to where the girl was sitting.
She stood up.
“Hi, I’m Katherine.” The girl smiled.
“Hi, Katherine, I’m Y/N.” You said shakily.
“Y/N, are you Tom and Shep’s nanny?” Katherine asked.
“Yeah, I am!” You smiled.
“Being a nanny sounds like fun.” She grinned.
“It is a lot of fun! I love being around Thomas and Shepherd, they’re the sweetest five-year-old and three-year-old I know! I had the pleasure of looking after Odette too. It was pretty awesome.” You nodded.
You looked back into the crowd waiting for another person to raise their hand. The crowd caught your drift and several others started raising their hands.
“Guy in the middle, about ten rows back with the Nike hat.”
The guy stood up and a mic was passed to him.
“Hi, my name is Adam and I think I’m your brother.”
“Wait… what?” You choked.
“I have a twin sister; Adelaide You were in some of our old baby photos. My dad told me a little about you.”
“Oh my god.” You muttered.
You gripped onto Jared’s hand tightly. He kept a protective arm wrapped around you the entire time. You let the mic fall into your lap and you turned towards Jared.
“What do I do?”
“I don’t know.” He shrugged.
You put the mic back up to your lips.
“Adam, can we talk in about an hour? That way the Q and A will be over with and we- we can have time to talk…” You said shakily.
Adam nodded, “I didn’t mean to freak you out or anything, I just really want to get to know you.”
You took a deep breath, squeezing Jared’s hand harder and harder. Jared’s free hand rubbed your back. He was whispering in your ear, trying to calm you down. You answered a few more questions before Jared suggested you take a break and go backstage. Briana and Kim met you once you got off stage.
“Hey, we were listening in… Do you think this guy is actually your long-lost brother?” Kim ran a hand over your shoulders.
“I think so, yeah. I really hope he is! I haven’t seen Adam and Adelaide in thirteen years!” You sniffed. “You guys don’t understand how much it would mean to me to see them again.”
“He seemed really sincere about it, Y/N.” Briana agreed.
“I mean how else would he have a twin sister named Adelaide… An-and he never mentioned mom he only said dad. And it would make sense!” You rambled on. “Our mom and their dad got divorced.”
Kim and Briana led you into a separate room, where everyone else was.
“I want that. I want that so damn bad, guys.” You wiped your nose in arm.
You hadn’t even noticed you were crying. The hour wasn’t long going by. You fixed yourself up and you were waiting by the auditorium exits, scanning every face. Your glance finally fell onto Adam and you waved him over. You led him into a room that Jared arranged for you. Nobody else was there, it was just you and him.
“You wouldn’t lie to me, right?” You rushed.
“No, no. Of course not! Y/N, I honestly think you are my sister- well half sister.” The boy started nervously.
“Where’s your dad?”
“He took Addy to a Pittsburgh Penguins game… I’m the only one who watches Supernatural.” Adam sighed. “The game is halfway over… I wish they were here. Dad always regretted leaving you with mom.”
“She-she was a bitch.” You whispered.
You scratched the back of your neck and cringed, thinking about your mom. You started to get to know Adam better once Jared joined you. You welcomed him with a kiss. He shook Adam’s hand and took a seat next to you.
“I am a really big fan.” Adam smiled.
“It’s always a pleasure to meet a really big fan.” Jared chuckled, running a hand through his hair.
You three got to talking when your younger brother piped up.
“Aren’t you like eleven years older than her?” Adam scratched his forehead.
“Thirteen actually.” You murmured.
Jared looked to the ground and laughed, “yeah thirteen years older.”
“Well I don’t care dude, I got to meet my sister and my favorite actor, all in one day!” Adam cheered.
“Isn’t it a plus that your new-found sister is dating your favorite actor?” You questioned Adam.
“Yeah, of course it is.” Adam laughed. “If you want proof that I am related to you, I have nothing to hide, I’d gladly take a DNA test… or whatever it is they do…”
“It-It’s okay, Adam. We can deal with that later okay, once I talk to your dad.” You smiled.
You stayed with Adam until the convention activities were over for that day. His dad came to pick him up, the twin sister in tow. Jack was just how you remembered him. Tall. Handsome. Even though you didn’t remember much of him, you were only nine when you last saw him. He still had his dark hair- although he was starting to go grey. He was starting to look sick too. Jack Harris. You remembered hearing your mother spit that name out in anger. He must’ve only been in his early forties now. It had been a long time since you had seen Jack- and the twins.
“Y/N.” Your name rolled off his tongue like he had said it a million times before. “Your mother’s not around is she?”
Jack was always a very joking man. Sometimes sarcastic. Your mother, a very dull and straight forward person, never quite understood his humor.
“No, no. She’s nowhere near here.” You grimaced.
You looked around, your eyes scanning every face. Not only were you making sure your mom was not there, you were looking for Jared.
“You grew up a lot since I last seen you.” Jack remarked, looking at you up and down.
“Yeah, I’m twenty-two now.” You smiled. “I got a job, a boyfriend. A couple of friends… No thanks to my mother.” Your smile faded.
“You don’t know how much I wish I could’ve taken you with me, Y/N. It’s just- money was tight and your mother took every penny from me in the divorce. Not to mention all the paperwork that would ensue-”
“-Jack!” You cut in. “It’s fine… I held my own. I honestly believe… If it wasn’t for her- I wouldn’t be where I am today and trust me, I’m in a much better place now than I was back then.”
“I’m glad you’re out on your own and you’re doing better. I can’t believe we got to meet again… all these years later. It was nice to see you and hopefully we can keep in touch.” Jack smiled.
You nodded, “I had a great time getting to know Adam. He also got to meet his favorite actor!”
Adam smiled up at his dad.
“Yeah. Jared Padalecki- from Supernatural- Is Y/N’s boyfriend! Isn’t that cool dad? If they get married, we could be related to a superstar!”
“Woah, whoa, whoa now, hold your horses! Jared and I have been going out for like a couple of weeks or so!” You laughed, playfully punching Adam’s shoulder.
“But he really likes you, Y/N. I heard him say he loves you.” Adam teased.
“I-I love him too.” You said quietly.
Deciding to change the subject, you turned to Adelaide.
“You’ve been quiet this whole time…”
“Adelaide’s… Addy’s deaf.” Jack frowned. “She knows you’re talking, she just can’t hear what you’re saying.”
“Oh! I’m so sorry!” You sighed. “Wow. I’m stupid.”
“You’re not stupid, she doesn’t go around wearing a sign that says I’m Deaf or anything.” Adam joked.
You didn’t know anything until your felt a pair of strong arms wrap around your waist. You smiled, leaning against the sturdy body.
“Hey baby.” You cooed.
“Hi sweetheart.” He pressed a kiss against your cheek.
“Jared,” you pointed towards the three people in front of you. “This is Jack and Adelaide.”
“Hi.” He smiled.
“Oh! Oh! Wave for Adelaide, she’s deaf. She can’t hear us.” You exclaimed.
“I know what deaf is, Y/N.” He sneered, waving at Adelaide.
She waved back.
“So, are you guys hanging around for the convention? I’m doing some more photo-ops tomorrow, other panels and I’ll be doing autographs.”
“As much as Adam would love to stay and get some photos taken and get some autographs… we don’t have that kind of money. We were lucky enough to get him here for that panel thing earlier.” Jack intervened.
“I’m sure Jared can make an exception…” You suggested nervously. “Give you guys the whole convention experience…?”
You whipped around to face Jared, giving him your best puppy dog eyes.
“I don’t know, Y/N…” He trailed off.
“Just this once?” You begged.
“Yeah. Yeah. Fine.” Jared smiled.
He slipped an arm around your back and pulled you closer to him. He whispered into your ear, “You owe me.”
Those three words sent shivers down your spine.
“Yeah. I owe you.” You whispered back with a smile.
You pulled away and turned back to your new-found family.
“So, who’s ready to get their convention on?!?!”
That night, Jared invited Jack, Adelaide and Adam out to supper. This supper included you, him and the rest of the cast! All fifteen of you sat around a big table, chatting amongst one another. You made an effort to go to the near by dollar store and you picked up two white boards. It would be an easy way to communicate with Adelaide until you learned sign language. You sat next to your younger sister at the table, you and her drawing little images to one another.
“Y/N, how long have you been working for Jared?” Kim mumbled, shoving a fry in her mouth.
“About three months. I love being with Tom, Shep and Odette!” You smiled.
All of you continued to eat. At seven thirty, Jared and yourself left the restaurant. You two decided you deserved a little alone time with each other. You said goodnight to everyone, gave Jack, Adelaide and Adam hugs, then made your way back to the hotel. You flicked off your shoes and threw your jacket over the side of the chair. Jared placed his hand on your shoulder and spun you back around to face him.
“So… about that thing I owe you…” You bit your lip while sliding your hands up over Jared’s chest.
He leaned in and pressed a kiss against your lips. You wanted more. You jumped up and wrapped your legs around his hips. One of Jared’s hands slipped underneath your ass and his right hand slid up your back. He brought you over to the bed and laid you down. He swung one leg over your body, not breaking the kiss once. You pushed him away for a second, giving yourself just enough time to take a deep breath before Jared hungrily kissed you.
“I don’t want to do anything you don’t want to do.” Jared murmured, sliding his hands in under your shirt.
"C'mon, Sam!" You exclaimed. "Put on your costume!"
"No, Y/N." He groaned. "This is stupid... and embarrassing!"
"It is not stupid... or embarrassing! Just put it on, Sam!"
Sam came out of the room you two shared, in his Halloween costume.
"See! You look so cute." You cooed.
Sam huffed, his eyes coursing up and down your body. He had a funny, little, green hat on, with a red feather sticking up out of it and a matching green shirt, plus a pair of plain charcoal gray pants. His shirt had a brown belt around it and it was a v-neck. You always that Sam looked 'dashing' in a v-neck! Sam, however, didn't like v-necks and he hated that costume. He didn't particularly like your costume either! You wore a light blue dress, which had a white, tie up apron, that cut off before the knee and pushed your boobs together. You used make up to emphasize them even more. You had your hair pinned back with a light blue headband, which matched your dress. Covering your legs were fishnets and you wore black pumps. You and Sam were going to a Halloween party dressed as Peter Pan and Wendy. You thought it was super cute! You invited Dean to go to the party as well. It was being hosted by one of your old college friends. You told him there was going to be a lot of hot, single chicks there but he didn't bite. Not until last minute, that is. As you were grabbing the keys of the impala off the kitchen countertop, you heard a door open behind you. Dean walked out of his room, in an all black costume. Once he turned around you noticed the ears and the oval, black and yellow, Batman sigil on his chest.
"Hey, hey! Y/N!" He grinned. "I'm Batman."
You threw your head back and you giggled a little.
"Yeah... I see." You laughed. "So you decided to come! What made you change your mind?"
Dean shrugged, "I just didn't want to stay here... all by my lonesome."
You laughed and shrugged too.
"Whatever works." You threw him the keys.
Dean caught them, single handedly. You, of course, got stuck out in the back of the impala, all by your lonesome, to quote Dean. There was already a bunch of cars there, Dean could barely find a place to park! You, Sam and Dean got out of the car, making your way into the party. The friend who invited you greeted you, Sam and Dean at the door. Everybody had such cool costumes! There were so many decorations and so many people were hiding, in an effort to scare the newcomers. You weren't phased by any of those tactics, you had seen them too many times before. You danced the night away, knowing you consumed way too much alcohol! You regretted wearing the heels, your feet were killing you! You took a seat at a table, watching Sam and Dean out dancing. Sam was talking to a couple of people while moving to the beat whereas Dean had some girls ass pressing up against his crotch. You bopped your head to the music as some guy took a seat next to you.
"I'm loving your costume! You're dressed up as Wendy, right?" He smiled.
"You know your Disney." You nodded and smiled.
"Do you want to dance with me?"
You paused for a moment. Your naughty drunk side wanted to say yes. Your sensible sober side wanted to say no.
"You see Peter Pan out on the dance floor there?" You pointed towards Sam.
The man nodded.
"That's my boyfriend." You whispered and giggled.
"Oh... I see." He frowned.
The man got up and left after you shooed him away. You took your shoes off and walked across the dirty floor barefoot. You tugged on Sam's shirt.
"What's wrong?" He worried.
"I want to go home now." You slurred a little bit.
"Sure, of course we can go home now. Just let me get the keys off Dean." He pressed a kiss against your forehead.
You made your way out to the car, while waiting for Sam. Considering your feet were hurting so much, you limped out to the car after slipping your shoes on so the rocks wouldn't hurt your feet even more. You leaned up against the car as another guy approached you. He was about Dean's height, definitely not as tall as Sam. He was wearing a red mask which covered most of his face. He also wore red devil horns to go with his mask. A red cape was tied around his neck and the man was in a blank tank top and black skinny jeans.
"Hey sweetheart." He wolf whistled. "Nice car you got here."
You nodded.
"Maybe we can go for a drive in it... What do you say?" He licked his lips.
You shook your head no. You could face any monster. Any vampire. Any werewolf. Wendigo. Ghoul. You name it. But people? They were so much scarier than the monsters you hunt. You started to back away from the man a little bit.
"What's the matter, honey? Cat got your tongue?" He started coming closer to you.
The man reached out and grabbed your hips, pulling you closer. You started to push away from him.
"Get away from me." You growled.
"Oh, what's that? You actually speak!" The man pushed you back into the car more.
You were physically trapped! The man was so much taller than you were and you were in between the car and his body. You started to cry and tried even harder to push him away from you. Before you knew it, his lips were on yours. He tasted like alcohol and an ashtray. It felt like forever before he pulled away. By now you were sobbing and pushing harder then ever.
"Get away." You screamed out.
"Nu-uh, Princess! The fun is just getting started." He hissed, kissing you again.
Suddenly, the man was pulled off you. He fell back into the vehicle across from the Impala.
"I don't know if you heard..." Sam growled between punches. "But she said... Get away!"
The man who was attacking you was now on the ground, half conscious. Sam pulled you into his arms.
"Are you okay, baby?" He worried.
You shrugged, holding onto Sam for dear life. You were crying harder than ever now.
"Shhh... I got you." He rubbed your shoulders.
Sam helped you into the car and drove you home. Every house you passed had Halloween lights and decorations up. They all looked so beautiful! It calmed you down a little bit. Sam flicked on the radio, every channel was playing Halloween songs, which also helped calm you down. You were still shaking by the time you got back to the bunker. Sam picked you up and carried you in.
"I'm sorry, Y/N." Sam whispered. "I should've been there for you."
"It's okay, Sam." You sniffed. "I'll be okay."
The next day was Halloween. Dean never got home till early that morning. You knew he spent the night with that girl. Sam mentioned to him about what happened the night before. Having a lot of alcohol on All Hallow's Eve, you didn't remember much of what happened when the guy attacked you. When you went out to buy Halloween treats, Sam was at your heels. There wasn't much left at the stores, and not that you would get any trick or treaters at the bunker either. At least if you never gave away any candy, you'd have a lot for yourself, Dean and Sam!
"So I have a plan." You smiled.
"Oh, this doesn't sound good." Dean frowned.
"In order to give away this candy we should put the candy in a Halloween bowl, go to the grocery store, park the car, sit on a bench and give out free candy!" You smiled.
"Y/N, that sounds stupid." Dean groaned.
"C'mon, Dean." Sam grumbled. "Suck it up. If Y/N wants to do this we'll go do it with her."
Sam rubbed your shoulder's and pressed a kiss against the top of your head. Later on the day, you, Sam and Dean threw on appropriate Halloween costumes and drove to the grocery store. You three took a seat on a bench outside the grocery store. You put the bowl of candy on your lap and waited for people to come. Most parents were reluctant to let their kids take candy from you, which was a bummer. You were in a worse mood than you were when you first started!
"People don't trust us." You frowned.
You rested your head on Sam's shoulder. Once woman approached you. She was dressed up as a kangaroo and she had her baby dressed up as the baby kangaroo.
"You've got a bowl full there." She noted and reached into the bowl and picked out a piece of candy. "Have you been here long?"
"Only like all afternoon." You half joked. "Here, have a second piece!"
The woman smiled and took a second piece as you reached out. When your hand came near the baby, she gripped onto your finger.
"Thank you." The woman giggled. "Tessa must like you!"
You smiled and made funny faces towards the baby. The baby started to laugh at you.
"She's beautiful." You grinned.
The woman thanked you for the candy and went inside the grocery store.
"I want one." You turned to face Sam.
"You're joking, right?"
"No... Sam, why would I be joking?" You cocked your head to the side in confusion.
"I dunno. You know we can't have a baby. Not with all the hunting we do!" Sam exclaimed.
"Then let's stop hunting!" You cried out.
"Babe, you know we can't do that. You know I can't!"
You shot up and placed the bowl of candy between Sam and Dean.
"I need a minute. Stay here." You sniffed.
You stomped off to the car.
"This has been the worst day of my life!" You cried.
You knew Sam and Dean heard you. You never meant for them too, but you had accidentally said it loud enough for them to hear. You got in the driver's seat of baby and slammed the door shut. You looked over to the boys. Sam caught your gaze as your bottom lip quivered and your vision went glassy until the tears spilled out. It broke his heart to see you that way. And Sam knew there was absolutely nothing he could do about it.
Just as one former Colorado Buffaloes player was making positive noise in Tampa Bay, another hit a roadblock. Wide receiver Will Sheppard, an undrafted free-agent pickup by the Buccaneers, has reportedly failed his NFL physical and will now have to look for another opportunity to kickstart his professional career.
According to Fox Sports' Greg Auman, Sheppard's failed physical was the reason his name was absent from the Bucs' official list of 15 undrafted free-agent signings. This news comes as a tough blow for Sheppard, who played and started all 13 games for the Buffs last season and appeared healthy during their pro day just last month on April 4th. The specific nature of his current ailment remains unknown.
While his shot with the Buccaneers is on hold, it's worth remembering the journey Sheppard took to get this far. He spent his first four college seasons with the Vanderbilt Commodores in the SEC, racking up over 2,000 receiving yards and 21 touchdowns before transferring to Boulder for his final year. In his lone season with Shedeur Sanders and the Buffs, the 6-foot-2, 198-pound receiver hauled in 621 receiving yards and six touchdowns, proving to be a reliable red-zone target.
During the pre-draft process, Sheppard put his skills on display at the East-West Shrine Bowl, the Big 12 pro day, and Colorado's own pro day. He even showcased impressive athleticism, recording a notable 40.5-inch vertical jump at CU's event.
Even Coach Prime himself, Deion Sanders, was a vocal supporter of Sheppard's abilities and character. "This kid can play this game," Coach Sanders said after the Buffs' pro day. "I talked to a lot of the scouts earlier about how fond I am of his game and his consistency thereof. He’s a big-time receiver. A 50-50 ball, he’s going to get that more times than not. And I just love his character and what he brings to the table, what he brings to the practice field, day in and day out. He’s a tremendous asset."
Sheppard himself was eager to prove he was more than just a red-zone threat, stating at Colorado's pro day, "I think just going out, showing I’m more than (a red zone threat) to these scouts when running these routes and stuff today. That’s something I’m building on... I can do it all. I’m big. I’m more than just a possession, go up and get it kind of receiver. I can run routes, run after the catch. I can do everything, play inside, play outside."
While this setback with the Buccaneers is undoubtedly disappointing, Sheppard's talent and the positive reviews from his college coaches suggest he shouldn't be out of the NFL picture for long, provided he can get healthy. However, the timing is tough, with most teams holding their rookie mini-camps this very weekend.
Meanwhile, other former Buffaloes are getting their first taste of the NFL, including Shilo Sanders (making a positive impression with the Bucs), Shedeur Sanders (Cleveland Browns), Jimmy Horn Jr. (Carolina Panthers), Travis Hunter and BJ Green II (Jacksonville Jaguars), and Cam'Ron Silmon-Craig (also with the Jaguars). LaJohntay Wester already participated in the Ravens' rookie mini-camp last weekend.
Here's hoping Will Sheppard can overcome this hurdle quickly and find another opportunity to showcase his skills at the next level. The NFL dream might be delayed, but it's certainly not over.
So I just found out that the dude who plays Crowley has two sons If they ever get made fun of for any reason, they can respond with "You dare mock the son of a Sheppard"
