Happy Phantom Theater closing anniversary
Phantom Theater Animatronic Construction Part 2! Featuring goofy mini models of the characters which were used for reference.
The Original Character posters used in the queue of the Phantom Theater (and as set decoration in Phantom Theater Encore)
Phantom Theater Animatronic Construction Photos Part 1! The 38 animated figures in the attraction were built by AVG Technologies, a now defunct manufacturer whose other projects included building figures for the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Florida.
Here’s photography of the Phantom Theater animatronic storage while the ride was being demolished in 2022. These photos were taken in backstage areas of the ride’s show building. Upon the figures’ removal from the attraction, they would be stored in other locations around the park (such as the Festhaus backstage area and sheds) only occasionally brought out for Haunt displays.
Shoutout to these photos taken in 2001 that I only now have found due to them being listed under the spelling of “Phantom Theatre” on Facebook.
My Phantom Theater Poster! Featuring all the sillies.
I (attempted to) recreate the scrim portraits from the first scene of the Phantom Theater, mostly because the images I did have had the images behind the scrims visible. Fun Fact: The 5 original scrims (2 of which were used in the lobby for Encore) were found in the Action Theater building, and still exist today.
