I am very hyped for Opening Nightmare and did these portrait cards around the time the ride was announced. I was too scared to ride the original as a kid, which is my huge theme park regret. So I’ll be glad to finally see these guys and ghouls in the theater where they belong!

Decapitated Houdelini and Maestro for your viewing pleasure

The Great Houdini Houdelini! This master magician appeared three times throughout the attractions, and was one of its most memorable characters (dare I say as much as the Maestro). A similar effect to his rabbit trick was used within the Haunted Castle at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (also designed by R&R Creative) in which a skeleton pulled a rabbit out of a cauldron. He’s one of the few animatronics to survive today in some form, as one of his figures was ‘beheaded’ before being scrapped and ended up on display within the Encore lobby exhibit.
