Apparently my solitary protest was actually a national thing. We're wearing black to mourn the direction our country swerved of the road towards. I'm mourning that our country is led by a man who is so whole inept to lead, and is compounding his destruction with the nomination of others who range from either completely inept to outright hostile to the departments they have been selected to lead. I'm mourning the people who will have to choose between crippling debt and their life because they lose their insurance so the uber rich get a tax cut; I'm mourning the environment and all the gains that are about to be lost, and I mourn the children who will be affected long after he's no longer president and his supporters are out of congress because we chose profit over their health and education. I mourn the women who won't get proper preventative care and will have to bring an unplanned child into a situation where they cannot be cared for. I mourn for the people of color, the disabled, people who are lgtbqa+, women, and non-Christian religions who have just watched a man that mocks and degrades them and encourages hostility towards them become the highest single position of power, and "validate" every bigot in the country. And the worst part is, I'm my opinion, is that he was forced upon us. Russian interference or not, 3 million more citizens voted against him and yet we still have to pay for him to live in his golden palace. Today was not a day of celebration. #ihavefeelingsaboutthis #fuckyoutrump #notmypresident #illegitimatepresident #dayofmourning #womensmarchonwashington #willbelit (at Cambridge, Massachusetts)
