I love Rose taking care of the boys. I headcanon that she would literally add heating to the garage so they have a place to stay if they need
Mama Rose is who need in these dark and uncertain times. I love how we all just know she’s going to be the best mother/motherly figure if she was still alive.
She would not only make sure the boys have heating, but that the water in the bathroom there is running, that they’re well fed every night, and even make sure they have spare clothes lying around for them to wear.
The offer is always there and she trusts the boys. She doesn’t even bat an eye when she would be coming downstairs in the middle of the night for a late snack and finds Reggie quietly rummaging through the fridge.
Reggie starts apologizing, thinking he’s gonna get an earful. But Rose merely trudged to the stove and whipped up some of her famous hot chocolate for the two of them.
She finds out that his parents were often so busy (with work and fighting with each other) that they don’t often make a lot of homemade meals and Reggie, to his horror, is starting to get sick of the pizza he would order for himself.
So Rose makes sure she cooks extra portions of dinner so that they were always leftovers in the fridge for Reggie.
Though not to embarrass him, she never tells him so. But it makes her smile every morning when she notices one less plateful of leftovers in the fridge. Sometimes she would casually get out of him what his favorite foods are and would do her best to make it whenever the band comes over for dinner.
Luke is always in the studio, and Rose starts to suspect that the boy has taken up temporary residence. It becomes clear when every time she sees him, he rotates between the same 3 shirts and only one pair of jeans- that boy hasn’t been home to even grab more clothes.
So Rose goes to the attic, grabs a box of her old band tees, takes some of Ray’s old pajama pants, and leaves it where Luke keeps his regular clothes. She takes his regular clothes to be washed, so he gets the hint.
Rose turns to hurry out before the kids came back from school, but she rushes back to the pile of band tees last minute and leaves a pair of scissors on top, knowing that Luke would want to make ‘adjustments’.
And when Luke shows up back to the house next day after school sporting Rose’s old and freshly-cutoff T-Rex tee, she doesn’t say anything. But Luke shoots her a grateful smile when he passed her.
So she does Luke’s laundry along with everyone else’s, making sure that boy has enough clean clothes.
(It was very funny when one time, Rose, in a rush, threw in Luke’s laundry in with Julie’s instead of Carlos’. The look on Julie’s face when she pulls out Luke’s boxers from her hamper amidst her clothes was priceless, and Rose felt bad for laughing)
And Rose is a huge believer in romance, and ever since Alex felt comfortable enough to come out to her, she’s been a huge supporter of Willex (or shipper, as Julie tries to tell her).
She’s the best wingwoman you could ever ask for. She knows that Alex brings Willie by to the Molinas because they couldn’t afford to go out and risk being seen by Alex’s family.
Whenever she sees Alex and Willie talking on the couch, she discreetly shoos everyone out and keeps anyone from walking in and ruin the moment.
Alex’s trying hard to pay attention to what Willie is saying but it’s hard to do so when he keeps noticing Rose’s head peeking out from around the corner, watching them intently.
(”Honey, just let them be” “Ray, my dear, I’m simply observing... you know in case they need anything.” “Sure, you are,”)
And one time, she may have gone overboard and started stringing up outdoor lights in the garden, noticing that Alex and Willie take a stroll there after they have their weekly family dinner. She plugged in the fountain, watered the flowers- making sure it’s all nice and romantic.
She may have been peeking through the curtains and witnessed their first kiss.
Okay... maybe everyone was sneaking peeks in the window when this happened.
At least Rose knew better than to admit it, unlike Julie, Luke, Reggie, and Carlos who immediately gushed and ‘oohed’ at the couple once they returned.
But yeah, Rose is that mom. And she’s honestly the best.
