Please and thank you!
There’s a tension in Will’s shoulders as he looks at you. His mouth opens and closes because he doesn’t know what to say. How do you thank the person who pulled you off that ledge? Who’d stepped in and protected you despite the fact you’d broken their heart into a thousand pieces?

Spiked - Will Halstead (One Shot)
Summary: Reader’s drink is spiked while on a date with Will.
Pairings: Will Halstead x Reader
Warnings: Emetophobia warning, mention of being sick!
It was a normal Friday night date night, Will would pick you up after your shifts had finished then you’d go to Molly’s for a drink or two before heading over to the restaurant that had very quickly become a favourite for the two of you.
However this particular Friday night you had decided to try a new bar across the street from the restaurant …a decision you’d soon come to regret.
“Get the rest of that down you and we’ll make a move for the restaurant” Will grinned as you played with the remainder of your drink, swirling it around the bottom of your glass.
“Don’t rush me Halstead!” You replied playfully, sticking up your nose before slowly sipping at your drink.
“You don’t have to finish it if you don’t want too?” Will smiled speaking softly as you purposely threw down the last bit as if to make a point.
“Now you know I’m not one to give up!”
“Don’t I know about it!” Will replied standing up and holding his hands out to help you from your stool. “Ready to make a move?”
“Let’s go!” You smiled reaching for his hand and locking your fingers with his.
The hit of the cold Chicago air felt nice on your face that you assumed was a little warm from the bar, that was until your stomach started to gargle.
“So this guy is a full grown adult and still has his mommy make decisions for him!” Will rambled on, not noticing you slowing down until you squeezed his hand. “Everything ok?”
“Something doesn’t feel right!” You tried to take a breath as you rubbed your stomach.
“What doesn’t feel right?” Will looked at you concerned as your hand loosened from his grip while you tried not to focus on the bile creeping it’s way up your throat trying to make you gag. “Talk to me?”
“I think …I’m gonna be sick!” You squeaked out as you pulled away towards a nearby bush to empty your stomach.
“It’s ok.” Will’s voice was soothing as he gently held your hair out of your face with one hand and rubbed circles on your back with the other while you continued to throw up. “You’re ok, let it out!”
“What’s happening?” You croaked as you tried to catch your breath, spitting to clean the last of the bile from your mouth.
“I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about.” Will said reassuringly. “There’s a bench just there, let’s get you sat down.”
“Will!” You panicked, grabbing hold of his arms before he could move. “My legs!”
“Y/N?” Will shouted as your legs disappeared from beneath you and everything quickly turned to black, Will managing to catch you before you completely hit the deck as he lowered you down to the pavement. “Y/N can you hear me?”
Despite being a doctor that dealt with emergencies on the daily Will was still in panic, frantically searching for his phone to dial 911 while shrugging off his jacket and messily folding it before placing it under your head while waiting for someone to pick up.
“Come on come on” He muttered as he shakily held the phone to his ear, running his thumb across your head until the line picked up. “Oh thank god! I need an ambulance!”
Within 10 minutes the ambulance had arrived, packed you up and got you to the hospital, Will not leaving your side as they wheeled you into the ED.
“Maggie who’s on?” Will called out to the charge nurse behind the desk.
“CONNOR YOU’RE UP!” Maggie shouted out before realizing just who Will was accompanying on the gurney. “Oh god, Y/N what happened?”
“Will what’s going on?” Connor ran over to the other side of the gurney and helped wheel you into a bay.
“I…I think her drink was spiked!” Will spluttered. “We walked out of the bar, suddenly she was sick and then she passed out …been unconscious since!”
“Will?” You weakly called out as your eyes opened to a blur of doctors and nurses rushing around you.
“He’s right here but first we gotta get you off this gurney and on the bed!” You could just make out Connor smiling only really knowing it was him by his voice. “Right on my call! 3…2…1!”
“What’s happening?” You began to cry, panic taking over as you still couldn’t move your body.
“Maggie we need a tox screen asap!” Connor ordered among a few other tests.
“I’m gonna puke!” You tried to lift yourself up.
“I got you!” Connor replied softly as he helped you sit up but before a nurse could get the bowl in front of you, you had already projectiled over Connor.
“I’m so sorry” Your words began to slur as the nurses laid you back down.
“It’s ok these things happen!” Connor replied cool as a cucumber as always. “Y/N? You ok?”
“S’going dark!” You slurred as your eyes fluttered shut and your body became limp.
“She’s passed out again!” Connor shook his head. “We’ll have to pump her stomach!”
“Woah what’s going on?” Will asked, eyes glassy and face red.
“We’re waiting for the test results to tell us what Y/N was spiked with but whatever it was was a very high dosage for her small body to deal with.” Connor explained.
“So stomach pump?” Will sighed rubbing his chin.
“I’ll take good care of her!” Connor smiled as he and the nurses wheeled you out of the treatment room. “I’ll keep you updated!”
“Thanks Connor!”
A couple hours later you were back from the procedure and sleeping peacefully in a room on the ward. Will had stayed by your side the entire time, holding your hand and running his free hand through your hair as he watched you sleep.
“W-where am I?” Your voice was barely a whisper. “What happened? Will?”
“Hey I’m right here.” Will smiled as he squeezed your hand.
“My mouth is dry.” You gasped as you tried to reach for the cup on the table in front of you.
“Easy, easy!” Will passed you the cup as you held it, staring at it between your hands as your memory started to slowly come back. “Honey you ok?”
“The bar …my drink?” Your breathing sped up as the cup in your hands began to shake. “I was drugged?”
“Hey, hey, baby you’re ok!” Will cooed as he held your face in his hands, making sure your eyes were focused on him. “You’re safe, it’s only water in that cup!”
“But how can you be sure?” You began to weep as Will wiped your eyes.
“I filled the cup, it’s ok.” Will smiled. “I know you probably don’t feel like you can trust anyone right now but you can trust me ok?”
“I know!” You sobbed as Will leaned into kiss your forehead before wiping your eyes again. “Will what happened? I remember leaving the bar?”
“Well you said something didn’t feel right, then you were sick and passed out!” Will began to explain, holding your hand tightly.
“Oh god you saw me throw up!” You covered your face with your free hand. “I’m so sorry!”
“Oh I didn’t just see you throw up!” Will began to grin. “I saw you throw up on Connor Rhodes!”
“Oh my god how embarrassing?” You blushed keeping your face hidden.
“Hey it’s ok, you couldn’t help it!” Will ran his thumb across the back of your hand. “If I wasn’t so worried about you I probably would’ve smiled!”
“Hey!” You laughed almost immediately regretting it from the discomfort in your abdomen. “Wow that wasn’t pleasant!”
“Making you laugh probably wasn’t wise on my part!” Will smiled as he laid the head of your bed down a little.
“They had to pump my stomach didn’t they?” You asked even though you knew the answer being an ED doctor yourself.
“Yeah but you’re ok now!” Will replied as you started coughing. “Here have a sip of water, it’ll help with your throat!”
“But…” You looked up at Will with puppy eyes.
“I promise it’s just water,” Will smiled sweetly as he held the straw to your mouth, “Trust me!”
“Ok.” You nodded as you moved forward to take a drink.
“See you’re safe!” Will’s voice was soft as he put the cup down. “Time for you to get some rest!”
“Please don’t leave!”
“I’ll be right here the whole time!” Will smiled. “Jay should be by soon.”
“Jay?” You asked getting comfortable on your side. “Why?”
“You were drugged and I want the asshole that did this to you to pay for it!” Will kept his voice quiet. “Besides you know Jay cares about you almost as much as I do!”
“Knock knock!” Jay appeared round the door. “Can I?”
“Hey Jay!” Will smiled as Jay walked in. “Find anything?”
“Yeah turns out it was the bastard running the bar!” Jay explained. “Y/N wasn’t the first incident, apparently he had a thing for women with the same hair and eye color and similar features!”
“What a creep?”
“Well he’s gonna be locked up for a very long time!”
“Good!” Will sighed as he heard you sniff. “Hey?”
“I’m sorry” You continued to sniff as Will and Jay helped you sit up.
“What are you apologizing for?” Will smiled as he sat on the edge of the bed. “What happened was not your fault?”
“The scumbag who is at fault is now paying for his crime.” Jay looked at you sympathetically. “You’re safe!”
“I know but I can’t get him out of my head.” You sobbed as Will pulled you into his arms.
“I’ll leave you two alone for a bit.” Jay spoke before edging quietly out of the room.
“Thank you Jay.” Will nodded in his direction before turning back to you. “You’ll be ok!”
“But what if I’m not?” You looked at him with red tear stained eyes. “I don’t want to spend the rest of my life being cautious and scared of every drink I ever have or any meal I eat!”
“You don’t need to be!” Will sighed with a pout as he wiped your eyes. “I will make sure that it never happens again!”
“Will you can’t do that?” You sniffed again. “It’s not possible!”
“Well when you’re feeling better and up to it we’ll stick to Molly’s and our favourite restaurant,” Will began to smile as he soothingly rubbed your back, “In the meantime you’ll have to put up with my cooking and I’ll let you watch and tell me when I’m doing something wrong!”
“Oh god I’m gonna end up back here with food poisoning!” You laughed quietly as Will chuckled.
“See we’ll get through this together!” Will smiled, gently tucking your hair behind your ears. “And if you think it will help we’ll talk to Dr Charles!”
“Thank you.” You replied as you reached up to cup his cheek in your hand.
“You know I’d do anything for you!” Will continued to give you the smile he knew you had no defense against. “Now budge up!”
“What are you doing?” You raised an eyebrow as you shuffled over enough that Will could squeeze into the small hospital bed beside you.
“Lying with you so I can hold you,” Will explained wrapping his arm around your shoulder allowing you to snuggle into his side, “and so you can get some rest!”
“I love you!” You mumbled into his chest as you got comfy, draping your arm across his middle.
“Not as much as I love you!” Will smiled as he held your face in his hand as he placed a kiss on top of your head. “Believe me!”
