California Zephyr on Williams Loop - 1967 by Steve Brown
Via Flickr:
The "original" California Zephyr traversing Williams Loop in Feather River Canyon of the Sierra Nevada Range in California. I took this shot from a Vista-Dome on the beautiful morning of January 14, 1967, while enroute to the Oakland Army base to report for duty in Vietnam. Scheduled passenger service on the Western Pacific Railroad ended in March, 1970 when the California Zephyr service from Chicago was allowed to terminate in Ogden, Utah, where through passengers transferred to or from the Southern Pacific "City of San Francisco".
