Animantarx is a Nodosaurid, and our first Nodosaurid! It has a suitably awesome name as well. It was found in the Mussentuchit Member of the Cedar Mountain Formation, living in the Albian to Cenomanian ages of the Late Cretaceous, approximately 106 to 97 million years ago. It is known from a lower jaw, back half of the skull, and limb elements and vertebrae. It was probably only about 3 meters long, It was actually found during a survey of radioactivity, and fossils from its discovery site are often radioactive - which is how the fossils of Animantarx were discovered. It lived alongside many other animals, including the Hadrosauroid Eolambia.
