A Galaxy Christmas

As the holiday approaches, we decided to flip through our collection of Galaxy, a popular science fiction pulp magazine published from 1950-1980. The December issues tended to feature holiday themed cover art, and from what we can tell, Santa Claus was featured most prominently, in an array of science fiction scenes, including spaceships, intergalactic bars, and naturally, in the company of robots and aliens.

Whenever I read the book review columns by Floyd Gold, Damon Knight, Groff Conklin, etc., or the science articles by Willy Ley and Isaac Asimov, I'm always as fascinated by the little personal details they disclose as the information and opinions they provide. It's a glimpse into their lives that humanizes their viewpoint. Anecdotes make fun reading, too.

If as a result of quick catching up, my book again becomes obsolete a few years hence, I shall be very happy indeed.
