Get this, it's a collection where Robinson chose his favorite less-publicized scifi short stories, then asked each author in turn to choose their favorite short story. It's got authors such as Larry Niven, Theodore Sturgeon, Terry Carr, Robert Sheckley, and Robert Heinlein. Certainly a book I'd like to add to my personal collection someday. . I’ve been trying to get down the pile by the side of my bed so here’s 3 books I’ve finished recently! In the Reign of King John by Dan Jones is a nicely produced visual book on the history of Magna Carta and the wider effects of the year 1215 on British, and world, history. I enjoyed this little brief break from fiction. Dimension of Miracles by Robert Sheckley is a very Douglas Adams-style Sci-Fi adventure written before Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Whereas the humour and grand philosophical ideas were well intertwined in HGttG, this book did struggle sometimes to blend the two in a seamless way so you often had to wait for the philosophical exposition to be over before the humour picked up again. I still enjoyed it though. And To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers was a beautiful, brilliant short story. Chambers is definitely one of my favourite authors and this novella is full of her typical humanity and wit. With characters pit against the grander scale of the universe whilst showcasing their personal lives. Mindswap by Robert Sheckley $9 Dell Books (1967) This copy is in really good shape. In this book, you travel the Galaxy by swapping minds with alien beings on other planets. There are many brilliant throwaway ideas, but the clear standout is "panzaism". Sheckley defines this as the opposite of quixotism - Don Quixote looks at a windmill, and sees a giant. Sancho Panza, on the other hand, looks at a giant, and sees a windmill. Cover art by James McMullan. .
