Maybe. There’s a good chance she’s worried about making sure she doesn’t lose her job.

still shaking, leaf goes to check on all the bedrooms in the house - perhaps hoping this is some sort of stunt and walker wasn't /really/ dead - and making sure nothing was out of place.

You as well manage to sneak away--dear Alfendi can’t keep you all in the library. You go around the bedrooms, from guest to master--at only a cursory glance, nothing appears to be out of the ordinary. Nothing misplaced, nothing broken.

Everything is normal there, a piece of time with peace that you no longer know.

she's shaking and sobbing - the stress and how overwhelming the situation is is too much for her, especially now that she's a suspect. looks like you won't be getting any words out of her. sorry, alfendi.

Alfendi merely sighs; there’s nothing to gain from pushing a suspect who’s already a complete wreck. Instead, Alfendi turns his attention back to the investigation at hand, planning to talk to Leaf once she calmed down.

she'll head into the laundry room to take care of some last minute clothing, walking carefully and softly as she usually does.

After passing Walker and a couple other servants on the way down, the door to the laundry room at the bottom of the stairs opens easily.

Location Discovered: Laundry Room!

It’s rather large, especially for a laundry room--lettered washers and dryers line the walls, and a pair of parallel tables for sorting and folding filled the center. On the wall right next to the door is a rack of keys, each labelled with a letter to a certain washer or dryer, ending with M.

Walker was very particular about clothing and laundry, and he had an odd paranoia surrounding clothing theft. As a result, a few years ago he got locks for his washers and dryers, and the correlating keys were put up on the wall. The numbers of the keys and of the washers and dryers did not correlate; instead, a Caesarian method was used, of “three letters over.” Washer A would get Key D. Dryer B would get Key E. When it finally reached Washer M, the keys would wrap around, and Washer M would get Key C. Overly complicated, certainly, but it kept Walker happy.

“Word has it that Walker has you on bedroom duty.” Byakuya comments to Leaf, passing her in the kitchen as he prepared to restock his tray of shrimp cocktail. “One wonders why he bothers with so many sleeping quarters when he’ll only be using half a bed on most days.” Being one of the few members of the staff around the same age range, Byakuya considered his relationship with the stepford-ish maid to be somewhere on the level of acquaintanceship. Or at least, on the sort of level where they were comfortable enough with casual conversation. Either way, it was a break in the monotony of pretending to be Walker’s pliable little dolls for a short while. “That being said, it would be helpful to know which one he'll be using for the sake of whatever late-night calls he may make this evening.”

she just kinda. smiles nervously at walker when he enters the kitchen, ❛ will there be any overnight guests? should i tidy the guest rooms again? ❜

Walker was not a large man--he was a big man. Big in life, big in personality, yet small in demeanor. His very presence commanded a room without him having to lift a finger, and it is almost satisfying to him to see his worker appear so nervous about him just walking into a room.

Walker merely gives Leaf a smile and shakes his head. “No, no overnight guests. The main event will begin at midnight, after all, and people will leave a few hours after it is over.”

Smile quirks into a smirk as he heads for the door. “Though, if you are offering to clean, I certainly will not object.”
