Is this even happening anymore?

As I have said. I am a college student. I work 20 hours per week. I have other things to do.

I really, really do want to get back to this, but I have no time, motivation, or energy. When I return, I will let you all know. Perhaps I took on a little more than I could chew with this, but I ask that you do not be rude in asking. I am one person who is going through a lot right now and I don’t need this either.

Is it possible to estimate when the next active investigation time will be?

know that any investigations will be announced beforehand in the form of Events. anything that i post from here forward will still be part of the event 1 investigation, and al will probably ask more questions to finish it off

“You’re all correct. The scream was impossible. Walker couldn’t have screamed if the body had to be moved. Meaning he was killed before midnight, and that he wasn’t the one who screamed. Curious, isn’t it?”

Others disappear to either calm themselves or search--Alfendi wasn’t sure which--and the inspector addresses the remaining party.

“So, we’ve established that Walker wasn’t killed in the library. Where he was murdered, well, we’ll have to find that out, won’t we? But there’s something rather interesting with this revelation.

“If Walker wasn’t killed in the library, what in the events that occurred just before midnight becomes impossible?”

“This is an easy one. Something to get you in the mindset.”

One more thing: this is not going to be a very long group verse. It does take place in the course of a single night. This won’t go on for weeks--perhaps just a couple at most. I’m going to spread things out as much as I can for my own sanity, but know that it won’t be terribly long.

Lucien shrugged. It didn't seem like there were any aristocrats present. (If this were a mystery novel, he'd start looking for clever puns based off surnames and occupations, but this was real life. He needed to be serious.) He remembered the painting in the dining room, and the scratched-up plaque. "I'm going to go pay a visit to the dining room." He wanted to get a look behind that painting.

“[Brenda turned to look at the woman’s portrait. The woman had a lovely and warm smile. Brenda found herself smiling— who is this lovely lady?]”

“Hearing Lucien read the note out loud, Byakuya begins to call upon his memory of the house to remember if there were any paintings in the house depicting royalty or something similar.”

“Only comes back from the sitting room in time to hear something about a noble. "If it's not a guest, wouldn't it be an object? Like, um-- a paiting, or a statue? Is there anything around here that stands out as being a kind of noble?"

No paintings depicted any form of royalty in the manor--most of them were either of landscapes or Walker himself. Though Walker always did look strangely at the painting of the woman...

Brenda watches as Lucien pushes and pulls at the painting, and eventually both she and Hershel go to help him--

CRASH!

The massive painting was just too much for three people--it crash right down onto them, pinning all three of them to the ground. Servants scream and rush to try and push the painting off of them.

In the wall behind the painting is a silver safe. There’s no key to this one: it’s a code.

He gained a puzzled look to his features as the drier the key should have been for opened with ease and the other did not. Goodness... Whatever had been placed into the drier must be something of importance and it would be wise to look for the key along with the book. He quickly left the room at that after looking around a little more and decided to look in the linen closet next as there may be traces of something in there as well. -shymaru

The linen closet almost gives off a relaxing vibe, smelling of freshness and serenity.

Except for one thing out of place.

On the floor is a small key. It has a tag attached to it--”Dressing Room.”

What was that doing here?

He felt a chill run down his spine as he saw that one of the keys was missing and anxiously approached the driers, searching through each of them with shaking hands as he dreaded what he may find inside them. -shymaru

Just about all of them opened and were empty--all except Dryer I, which did not open. It was tightly locked.

Vivi's brows knit in concern at the locked door. She glanced around for the key for a few minutes, before deciding to just try putting her shoulder to the door a few times to see if it would budge. Hopefully it'll give way before she hurts herself... or draws unwanted attention.

Nothing appears to be making the door budge. It was simply locked--a house as extravagant as this wouldn’t have old, insufficient locks. It doesn’t make a lot of noise; just a few muffled thumps.

This door wasn’t going to open without a key.

(cliipsought) As much as Kyle's instincts were screaming for a chance to get to investigating what was going on, he knew it'd be fruitless to try and focus on that when suspicion was on him. Kyle responded to Alfendi's inquiries - irritating as it was, he knew he had to be impartial, no matter what their brief history was. "Not much for me to say - I was in the bathroom upstairs at the time. I'd like to say I know I have witnesses... but it's too early to be pointing fingers anyway."

A couple nods as Alfendi mentally notes Kyle’s statements. Quick, sufficient, to the point. At the very least someone knew what they were doing around here.

He nodded slowly at that and left the room, wringing his hands as he thought of where he should look first and eventually making his way towards the laundry room. A book of that manner might be hidden after all if he took the time to hide the note...-shymaru

The laundry room is empty and void of activity; the underground room seems to absorb any noise from above and amplify what’s inside.

Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary… except for one thing.

One of the keys is missing from the row of dryer keys. It appears that key ‘F’ had been taken.

Behind the spotless noble, eh? Lucien frowned. "I wonder..." He stood up. "Anyone here by the name of 'noble?' Or anything similar?" ~objectionimgay

Noble, noble--outwardly, it didn’t appear like there was anyone with a higher title such as that.

Outwardly. Who knows what anyone could be hiding?

Oh joy, the murder weapon. She's about to go and lug the ax back to the library, but figured that it could be bad if she accidentally got too many of her finger prints on it. So instead, she's taking the whole damn trash can with her. But she's still going to check the powder room more in case there's anything else.

Nothing else appears to be in the powder room. You pick up the trash can, lug it over to the library, and slam it down in front of Alfendi. He gives you a look of genuine surprise before looking closer at the ax with his (now gloved) hands. You take a pair yourself.

still shaking, leaf goes to check on all the bedrooms in the house - perhaps hoping this is some sort of stunt and walker wasn't /really/ dead - and making sure nothing was out of place.

You as well manage to sneak away--dear Alfendi can’t keep you all in the library. You go around the bedrooms, from guest to master--at only a cursory glance, nothing appears to be out of the ordinary. Nothing misplaced, nothing broken.

Everything is normal there, a piece of time with peace that you no longer know.

" mr. alfendi - " urso immediately moves to stand in front of leaf, almost in a protective manner. the only friend he's got in this house, and she's being accused? his voice is cold, and he locks eyes with the other, unafraid. " i can speak solidly for both ms. telee and i when i say we were in the upstairs northwest bedroom. she was making beds, and i was talking to her. we're friends, you see. " he put a hand on leaf's quivering shoulder. " now if you could please give her some space. "

Alfendi takes note of Urso’s testimony, and he chuckles upon hearing that they were friends. How cute. “Afraid this is standard, Blacklea. We have to know where you were, since you were separated from us.”

But he leaves the two alone, a silently acknowledgement of Leaf needing some time.
