Hello there! Just wondering which is your favorite "easter egg" or detail you loved the most on mgsv the phantom pain. Also, I read a post (not yours) which said that Ocelot is The Boss' son, is that true? Thanks, I love your blog!
hey! There are a lot of details in this game that i really like so it’s hard to pick only one, but something that i really loved in Phantom Pain (and is not exactly an easter egg, it’s more of a detail tbh), is that when Big Boss first met Ocelot in MGS3, he gives him advice regarding the use of the handgun. He says something like “i dont think you’re cut out for an automatic in the first place, you tend to twist your elbow to absorb the recoil, thats more of a revolver technique”. After that, Ocelot starts using a revolver, but at their second meeting, he made a mistake and was being a show off, so BB gives him another advice and tells him “This accident wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t been showing off. It’s a nice gun, I’ll give you that. But the engraving gives you no tactical advantage whatsoever.” And in Phantom Pain, there is a scene where Ocelot gives the exact same advices to another soldier. You can check out the scene im talking about here. Most people would be too proud to admit they were wrong and would not change, and even though they were enemies during mgs3, Ocelot not only listened to what BB said, but also learned from it. And i think that’s just beautiful.
As for easter eggs… There’s one i love: if you play the game on the same day as your birthday you’ll get an adorable cutscene where they sing you their version of “Happy Birthday”, and if you have a high bond with Quiet she wishes happy birthday too and lights his cigar with her sniper. I LOVE that scene! You can see it here.ALSO,,, i really love all the easter eggs related to P.T (Silent Hills), you know, the amazing horror game that Konami took away from us. There are so many references to it in Phantom Pain. This video shows most of them and it’s really cool!
And as for your question about Ocelot and The Boss.. Yes, he is her son. In MGS3, Big Boss asks EVA how Ocelot managed to be a commander at such a young age, and she explains that he receives some kind of special treatment because “He’s the son of some legendary hero or something.” BB asks who is this hero and EVA says she has no idea and that she thinks Ocelot never met his parents. She only knows that his mother gave birth to him right in the middle of the battlefield and that when she was stitched up the scar formed into the shape of a snake. By the end of the game, The Boss tells BB that she had given birth to a baby boy during battle and that he was taken away from her by The Philosophers. She then shows her scar, shapped like a snake.
