Jinmen
The island was really quite beautiful; I think being placed there would have been really hard for me, but I'm glad that I got to go and visit.
The one other thing Jinmen's known for that I forgot about is the Wind Lions! During the war, one of the Nationalist generals cut down all of the trees on Jinmen to make a navy--ALL of them. As a result, the island became much more vulnerable to high winds, and the land started to erode. Cue the Wind Lion God, whose statues began to appear all over the island as the residents tried to gain some protection and counter the effects of the deforestation. Much of the island has been/is being reforested now, but the statues are still everywhere. Some are plain stone, but some are painted and decorated with flowers.
