Not long after Specter’s birth, Wind died doing what he loved.
Wind enjoyed spending time with his youngest though he wondered about what kind of future she might have.
Unfortunately while playing with Light, Hope passed away. Luckily, Canvas was out visiting his sisters when it happened and Light was too young to know what was happening but it was a sad event that shook the entire household.
When Wind told Matcha Swirl about Mirage’s arranged marriage, she blew up. Especially after Wind made it clear that Mirage would probably be having children from her marriage.
How could Wind be such a fool? Matcha Swirl knew that Mirage would be infinitely worse off if she had children that had even the slightest bit or green or pink to them in any raw marriage but especially with the Spirit family who already despised mixed berries. Wind first tried to downplay it by reminding her that they gave Mirage a better childhood but by the end of it, Wind had to stop living in denial and realize that if it ever came out that Matcha Swirl was Mirage’s mother, divorce was the best case scenario for her when her future spouse and in-laws constantly encouraged color-coded hate crimes.
The economic disaster might be a blessing though since it would make it more difficult to find a ‘more suitable spouse’ for Web. Meaning even if the truth about Mirage came out, getting a divorce might be more socially beneficial than Web being a “widower”. Either way, Matcha Swirl determined that Wind’s actions were unforgivable which effectively ended their friendship. Wind very well may have gotten his daughter killed instead of giving her a stable future.
With the girls rapidly approaching their teens, Wind took Matcha Swirl aside to let her know that usually Verre children all go to boarding school.
Matcha Swirl was not happy with the idea of having Mirage so far from her and having Vitrail not be considered for such ideal education. It wasn’t fair since Vitrail was Wind’s daughter too.
After a lot of deliberation, it was determined that all three girls would attend boarding school for their teen years. Except, Vitrail would attend a different one to not raise suspicion in with the raw community. Instead of saying that Vitrail was at boarding school, publicly, Vitrail would be with an uncle or aunt living elsewhere.
Despite the relief of no longer having to lie about their affair and Vitrail’s father, Matcha Swirl couldn’t bear with the situation. She hated that now she and Wind could be more open but she couldn’t claim her child and that made that fact worse. Which is why Matcha Swirl decided to officially break off the relationship she had with Wind.
Wind didn’t take the news well but came to accept that he couldn’t have everything that he wanted.
Since Ivory and Canvas were such good friends, Wind decided to invite her over for a playdate which was agreed upon with Ivory’s mother coming to make sure things were in order and meet the young boy’s parents.
Canvas had overheard some of his parent’s screaming match so Wind decided to come mostly clean to his son. Wind told him about the fact that Vitrail was actually his half-sister since Wind was her dad but that it had to be a family secret since rumors would be bad for them all.
Canvas listened intently to his father and while he was mad that Wind kept it secret, he was happy to know his other little playmate was his sister. Though in Canvas’s eyes, he already had two sisters one more wasn’t a big deal.
