Unfortunately while playing with Light, Hope passed away. Luckily, Canvas was out visiting his sisters when it happened and Light was too young to know what was happening but it was a sad event that shook the entire household.

Canvas entered his teen years and like his father before him went off to boarding school. Before he left though he said goodbye to his family in person.

Ivory found herself drawn to listening to Hope play the piano whenever she was over and Canvas was busy.

As Wind had been feeling for a while, the idyllic life he had been leading was simply the calm before the storm. And that storm blew hard when Hope found out about Wind and Matcha Swirl’s affair. 

After taking the deserved berating for cheating, Hope realized that Vitrail was Wind’s daughter as well. Once that was out in the open, Wind felt a bit lighter knowing that at the very least he didn’t need to lie about his daughter in his own home. But that easy breath didn’t last long since Hope then demanded that Matcha Swirl and Vitrail be sent away. To which Wind made it very clear that it was his house, his family, and there was no way he would make them leave.

While Wind felt guilty about not claiming Vitrail as his own, he decided to try and make up for it by playing with her more than his other daughters when Hope wasn’t present, not that they missed him since Hope and Matcha Swirl were more than happy to give the others their attention.

Vitrail learned that she would have to cook when they had the means to. She understood why she and Treble used to eat at the diner instead of at his house since Gem seemed to have a talent for burning anything she cooked. The couple still ate her cooking without complaint for the most part. 

Hope and Wind finally returned to being civil with one another after Hope got news that her brother had passed. The Light family house was given to her from her brother’s will. Hope decided to keep the assets to leave to Canvas when she passed. A part of her liked the idea of her grandson inheriting the house when the economy became better.

Mirage decided to speak with her mother about her concerns for the marriage, namely being that Web was cruel to pretty much everyone she knew outside of her and his family. 

Hope did express some worry but she told Mirage to keep her head down to not draw his temper and suggested that once she had children she could busy herself away from Web at worst. Mirage wondered if that was the best she could hope for but since this was for the sake of the entire family, she could bear it.
