Oh it is so nice to hear something good about a mini-fridge. There was one in my dorm my first go at college and it was... less efficient than just hanging things out the window into the cold would have been; I made myself sick putting milk that had gone off into my tea several times...

ANYWAY yes good this is a wonderful observation! I love all the logistics of her (and other humans!) in the Demon Realm... and Luz has such a good support system, of course they’d set that up for her <3 I’m glad you had someone to set it up for you too!!

YES god she’s so good with kids and I love that so much. Now that she’s working with Lilith on the museum extension to the library, do you think she’ll do school tours~?

God, yeah. What a rough position for the poor kid to be in-- and it hit extra hard when he said I know it’s just pretend! It really does have that feeling of a lonely kid, far away from anyone who’d really care about him. It’s like the mayor’s kid, or the child of a mafia boss, and everybody knows you’ve got to get on his good side but everyone’s terrified and can’t actually like the poor thing.

There’s a lot of pain in that poor little space cherub.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you there, just wanted to be sure. So... thoughts on Amethyst having found "her people"? I feel like due to the frantic situation this revelation was passed by too quickly, it's a big thing for her character!

First of all: I’m really sorry for the delay in answering this. I was like, “sure ask away” and then disappeared.

Yeah, there wasn’t much time to dwell on this, and there’s a ton of interesting implications. They called the jasper gems “off-color”, so she’s the mistake? (Kind of sits in contention with Peridot talking about her perfect exit hole, but then there’s the hierarchy aspect where had Amethyst come out earlier, she’d be above in the pecking order?)

I weirdly let worldbuilding details just come in as they are and don’t theory craft much. From a character perspective, this was phenomenal, not just that she felt able to fit in despite the whole “being made wrong” anxiety that she has always had (it’s her entire existence!), but that she instantly won these amethysts to her side because they’re...fun? It was awesome, and I’m just really happy she got that self-confidence boost. Also how she got to see the other “flaws” in the Earth gems, it could help heal the “admit it I’m a big mistake” thing.

But amethysts are kind of terrible at their job. Like you put a bunch of them together and they’re just useless if something amuses them.

asks pt 2

Yeah, ha. I’m inclined to think of “The Collector” as a little more ‘real’, if only because that’s what they were credited as in the flashback in KKKOHD, but still. Honestly, they give me big Squire of Gothos energies (props to Mike for remembering the name of that ep and mentioning it, I just had “that one TOS ep where the all-powerful creature gets grounded by his parents at the end” in my head). Maybe we’ll find out their true name when their mumma shows up.

I mean, his work with the Collector might allow him to recognize a young Titan. But it also might not. Philip is definitely still manipulative and controlling, and I wouldn’t put it past him to try and get one over on the Collector-- I think it’s entirely possible his eventual downfall will involve him trying to double-cross them and getting put down for it-- but I don’t think we know enough to say that that’s what he was doing here.

I do think that it’s not only his freedom that the Collector is after; he seemed genuinely excited by ‘playing’ in the destruction the Day of Unity will cause.

I think it’s possible they were hunkering down in the house-- why would we see them, they’re not the type to come out with their hands up-- but I do agree that it’s more likely they’re not in there.

Asks pt.1 (Owl House)

Yeah, god damn! It pinged as off when I was watching but I just thought I’d misremembered; Mike pointed it out with a comparison when I was done with the ep. And it’s definitely not a continuity error-- there would be no reason not to just use the original recording of the line if they didn’t want to change it! It’s a really nice subtle way to show us Luz exaggerating her mother’s position in her memory because of her anxiety about the whole situation, and I love it.

Fair enough lmao. I was thinking she’d be coming from the position of “Luz your mum is so cool she’s so different from my mum” but yeah.

Hmm, I can see that as an interpretation-- but I thought the implication there was that Kiki was on the chopping block for her past failures (Eclipse Lake etc) and that her promotion was to not be punished for those. Hmm....

Yeah, she definitely looked... wistful. I wouldn’t jump to any conclusions of “she’s holding onto resentment/doesn’t actually want her there” like I’ve seen some people say, but I do think it’s an active choice she’s making to let Amity back into her life and it’s going to take a while for things to be genuinely comfortable again. I’m also really hoping for a Willow episode-- and not just because it’s a square on my bingo, lmao.

I’ve mostly been watching thanks to individual links kindly passed to me my helpful folks on Discord, but I’ve heard that theowlclub dot net is a good source for streams and downloads!

Oh that sounds neat! I’m not going to watch them now because I’m paranoid about spoilers, but maybe I’ll come back after the season is over and give them a watch! Thanks for the tip~

Hm, yeah. Wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey. I think both are possible, honestly— the skull already being sacred ground to some degree or another seems likely to me, since even Wild Witches seem to have worshipped the Titan to some degree (note all the talk about magic as a gift from the island/gift from the titan, even in Adventures in the Elements), but Lilith’s genuine reaction to finding out where they are could have totally given him the idea to make use of the preexisting religion and install himself as its figurehead. 

Also, this isn’t 100% relevant, but I just want to state that Darius swearing “sweet mother of Titans” really, really strikes me and I feel like that’s coming back. 

Oh that sounds neat, I’ll give it a go! I’ve been meaning to get into more filk, especially seeing as so much of the music I write is essentially stealth-filk itself, lol. I’ll give them a listen!

It took me a minute to see, but yeah, the big wings on either side do kind of look like unfolding blades. That’s really funky. The little shape in the circle at the top almost looks like a pair of hands reaching in for each other, too. Wild….

Yeah, I didn’t catch it while I was watching but on further reflection that seems very likely. And if he’s been going easy on her… we’d all better worry about the inevitable rematch. 

I really like that as an interpretation! Like, that particular aspect of The First Day still bugs me, but looping it back in as a character trait does make it work a lot better and it’s fun to have as a specific thing about Viney. She gets super pissed off about perceived slights and then you’re 100% back in her good books three hours later. I like it. 

Ooh, yeah, an insect does seem likely! Maybe a cricket, because she’s a bard?

I have watched them, actually legally in that window before they were pulled. You can ask me my opinion on whatever, though I’m likely to put it below a “read-more” until they’ve either aired on TV or are put back on the apps. CN is really just playing this the worst way it can.
