That window socket post is going around again... I know a few things about solar panel design and there is NO WAY that little thing could produce as much voltage and current as a wall socket. You could *maybe* get enough to charge a phone at 5V but it’d probably still be less an an amp (slower than a normal usb charger).

Still it’s unlikely you could get that much power especially through a window (absorbs UV Light) and you’d get almost no direct sunlight from pointing it at the horizon (solar panels need to be pointed directly at the sun for max efficiency)

Possibly the coolest and most functional solar charger I've seen yet - this little "window socket" sticks on your window with suction and uses solar panels on the back to capture sunlight to power the socket. 

Created by designers, Kyuho Song and Boa Oh, the socket is a simple, yet ingenius way to power your devices.

I'd say they succeeded.

Plug it on the window

The Window Socket offers a neat way to harness solar energy and use it as a plug socket. So far we have seen solutions that act as a solar battery backup, but none as a direct plug-in. Simple in design, the plug just attaches to any window and does its job intuitively. Designers: Kyuho Song & Boa Oh.
