Paul Young might have had several issues during the 90's, though I would claim they weren't as severe as I probably made them look like. While his albums didn't sell in the numbers of his 80's records, he did have his own following and an occasional hit, though he soldiered on. His eponymous album from the period presents us that, since the LP's tunes sit within the domain of the adult contemporary pop of the era with the mix of his usual style and some acoustic stylings as you can hear in the finale of the disc. True, his soundscapes hewed closer and closer to the idiom, but his voice prevailed as a force to be reckoned with. Maybe that's why I wish he would have been willing to deploy that more in other sonic contexts.
