(On Windows,a slasher film about a psychotic lesbian) “When spokespeople for the film defended themselves by claiming that the picture was not indicating that all lesbians were psychotic, protestors sent out a press statement arguing that “it would be cynical to argue that this film... portrays only one sick individual and not all lesbians.... The fact remains that other contrasting images of lesbians do not exist in Hollywood films.” -Queer Images

When there are so few portrayals of any one group of people, that representation must be positive in nature. For every negative portrayal of any minority, there must be many positive portrayals to counteract the inevitable stereotyping and bigotry that the negative representation will cause and enable.
