Microsoft's Surface RT is a ground-breaking tablet, then, and fittingly it's a magnificently made one as well. The chassis contains clever, gunmetal-grey aluminium, with chamfered sides throughout, and half of the rear panel flips out to form a sturdy kickstand. The tablet has a USB port on the right, which permits the connection of storage, keyboards, mice and, so Microsoft claims, hundreds of other peripherals, including printers and scanners. The display is superb. It's a 10.6 in, 1,366 x768 IPS display. Colours leap out of the screen and the seeing angles are near-flawless, with virtually no color or contrast shift as you tilt the display away from you.
