What made you get attached to this specific generation of Pokémon games? What made them stand out from the others? How did they become the ones for you to invest so much time and effort in them? PS You're awesome, keep it up! *finger guns*
AWWW Thanks! :D
I think Sun and Moon holds a special place in my heart for a LOT of different reasons. I started playing pokemon games very late, with my first game being Pokemon Y. I bought it when Alpha Sapphire was just around the corner and basically missed out on the community hype. So Gen 7 was the first time that I witnessed the next game reveal as part of the community!
My game-experience also played a huge part - my team was unusually unbalanced in it’s types and I also barely did any level-grinding, which meant I was almost always on the same level as the NPCs, which made A LOT of battles far more engaging and memorable!
But OF COURSE the biggest selling point for me was Sun and Moon’s story, the region’s lore and it’s ENTIRE cast of characters. They broke their own formula for once with the Island Challenge, the Legendaries were actually tied into the story and the regions culture and almost ALL of the characters left a lasting impression on me. Not like in XY and ORAS, where I can barely remember the gym leaders and don’t really care much for them either.
Sun and Moon has a theme to their story that I really like and that seems to give the characters so much more personality than in previous Gens: It’s all about family! Broken families like Gladion, Lillie and Lusamine, how they deal with the loss of Mohn, Lillie, who finds a new home and adoptive family with Kukui and Burnet, Hau, who has a loving family but struggles to live up to his grandfather and of course Guzma, who ran away from home and founded a group of misfits who became their own family in a way.
Some info and hints about the character’s life and personalities within the game were rather subtle, but still very effective. Effective enough for me to care about them to such a high degree, that I wanted to see them grow and am still drawing comics of them to this day :’D
