QUINTA DO PESSEGUEIRO RESERVA BRANCO 2020, 12,5 %VOL. 85% Rabigato e 15% de Folgazão. Região DOURO. De cor amarelo brilhante /dourado, notas de frutos de caroço (alperce, pêssego, ameixa amarela e lima) e nuances amadeiradas bem equilibradas no nariz. Estagiou 6 meses em barricas sobre borras finas, proporcionando um vinho intenso e que pede comida. Uma boca intensa, boa cremosidade da fruta de caroço madura, madeira bem subtil, muito gastronómico e um grande vinho reserva do Douro. Acompanha bem pratos elaborados de massas, carnes grelhadas brancas, bacalhau assado no forno e queijos curados. It has been a while since my last Bordeaux wine, nevertheless a white. Entre-Deux-Mers is a sub-region where we can find good value white, red and sweet Bordeaux wines. This wine is a blend of Sauvignon blanc, Semillon with a touch of Muscadelle. I have already presented a beautiful full-bodied wine from Vigneron Chaigne et Fils @rchbx so I was excited to taste something else from their portfolio! A medium deep golden color with silver hue and a medium plus viscosity appear in the glass. The nose has freshly cut grass, green bell pepper, lemonpeel, elderflower, acacia, apricot and grapefruit. Dry wine with high acidity, medium alcohol and medium body. Flavours of lemon, grapefruit, green bell pepper and elderflower leads us to a medium plus lenght. A very good quality wine which best to drink in the next 3-5 years when it is chilled to 8-10°C. Have it next to a charcuterie board, seafood platter, sushi or creamy cheeses. Premier contact avec le millésime 2020 à Bordeaux. Ambiance, un peu particulière, 6 dégustateurs par session, 2 heures 30 pour déguster une centaine de vins. winking owl shiraz tonight! aldi’s own signature wine brand. probably the cheapest wine i can find, these bad boys run around $2.85.

the cork was nice and easy to remove. i realize this has no bearing on the actual wine, but it’s always nice.

the nose is a bit boozey. definitely dark fruit, some black cherry. just a hint of chocolate.

the tasting notes on the bottle are: “subtle flavors of black cherry, blackberry, and a hint of spice”. and, well, that’s a pretty accurate tasting note. not overly dry, it has a good mouthfeel. a bit tart on the finish. but the finish doesn’t linger. 

all the flavors are very subtle, nothing jumps out at you. the flavors are a bit weak, but not bad. 

overall, it’s hard to go too wrong with a wine for $2.85. that said, i’ve certainly had wines that i will never touch again, and this is certainly not one of them. i’ve always found winking owl wines to be a good deal. especially for when you just need some wine to relax at the end of the day and just need something simple.
