1 year and 1 month ago, I did a little photoshoot with the kids wings and my trenchcoat and tie.... the intent was to use this for a graphite portrait. I never got around to it.
But i’m doing @theroadsofararchive April Challenge (Wings!) and not only is that right up my alley, this picture was perfect for it - and I decided to try and do something a little different.
my realism is ALWAYS based off photos and ALWAYS graphite* (*unless its a city skyline - then i prefer ink*) so i figured, why not try digital? In the Animated Gif - you can clearly see my process - the original photo. I still started with lineart so i knew what i wanted to do and i started simple. only 3 colors so i wouldn’t go crazy with layers. (I still had 5 wing layers, 4 tie layers and 2 trenchcoat layers and 2 for lineart)
I forgot to capture it, but when i took the lineart off after i colored it, the wings looked the worst - i had to do a lot of edge softening for it to look right once the line work was off.
i... i really really like this! i’m gonna put it on my society 6 shop soon i think, and make it a print.
