Manon took a step beyond Glennis, her sword lifting farther.

Manon flipped Wind-Cleaver in her hand, angling the sword downward, and drew a line in the snow between them.

Manon stepped beyond the line she'd drawn in the snow.

She would not greet the Darkness's embrace today. But they would.

"The last Crochan Queen. Holding the line against us." Manon cracked her jaw, and iron teeth descended. A flex of her fingers had her iron nails unsheathing. "Not just a Crochan Queen this time."

Manon was ready.

She was not a broken-spirited Wing Leader unsure of her place in the world.

She was not ashamed of the truth before her.

She was not afraid.

No, she was not afraid at all.

I would like to preface this by saying that I absolutely loved Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Fantastic world building, character development, and overall great story line. I think she is a great author who really brought an interesting and new story to life in a way that enveloped readers, new and old, so quickly and wholeheartedly. That being said. Sgaeyl. Sgaeyl? Xaden Riorsan, feared son of a rebel leader, wing leaders, most talented rider and fighter in his year, has a dragon named Scale. I know he didn’t know her and that she is an absolute badass. I also commend Rebecca Yarros for her immense creativity. But the moment I read Sgaeyl and my brain did the fantasy name math to figure out how to actually pronounce it, I let out a way too loud laugh. It’s absolutely perfect. Love my girl, Scale, who would absolutely toast me for joking about her name before Tairn would even catch wind of what I was saying.

I had this book for a while, and when I finally decided to read it, I devoured it. Fourth Wing is probably one of my all time favorite books. The characters, the storyline, the everything! It’s actually one of the only other books where I’ve related to a character so much aside from when I read the House of Night series. I love to cosplay and experiment with characters, but I don’t always feel like I relate to the characters I’m portraying. Violet Sorrengail is the only other character I think I’ve ever related so much too aside from Zoey Redbird. From giving friends your own answers to say in class, to changing expectations/being underestimated, to scaring your friends (and yes, my friends tell me I scare them heehee), to being compared to your sister by others, and so much more. I think Violet is such an inspiring character, and I cannot wait to read Iron Flame when it comes out in November!
