Magic, wings and ancient royalty!
Some line art, references or initial pieces that got modified overtime.
Ancient Irken definitely had wings and maybe even a little more!
Basically, every Irken is born with unique symbols/sigil’s, mainly on an arm. Hence the gloves and overzealous covering of appendages in the modern era. They’re sensitive to both the world and to others. The Magic thrums just below!
Even if history has been lost or twisted, convincing the whole of Irk that it is nothing but myths. Yet the marks remain ever present.
These sigil are usually only slightly darker than an Irken’s natural skin color when at “rest”. But “come to life” aka glow when using magic or under intense or emotional stress.
Perhaps slightly augmenting natural abilities (faster reflexes, sight or hearing) or fortifying the body (can resist poison, skin becomes tougher, etc.) for short bursts of time.
Instead of wands, Irken wear magical stones: typically in amulets or necklaces, but sometimes in weapons as well. These stones act as catalyst for their elemental magic. It is very difficult if not impossible to “naturally “ use it otherwise. Or may come with great risk to both user and their surroundings. Often going berserk or driving their master insane from the raw draw or unfiltered natural magic from the world.
I recovered the colored version! (Background was supposed to be a balcony but I was so afraid of my program crashing again…so this will have to do.)
Second image I lowered the opacity on the wings, so that more of the underneath details could be seen.
Another Butterfly Irken piece.
Based off an anon’s question about a previous post (magical Au). Again sorry this took so long!
Two ways irken can have wings.
1.) Naturally. -These irken are either born with or grow them later in life (during Puberty or once certain conditions are met).
-These fairy like Irken are a rare Irken sub subspecies. Many think of them as only myth.
2.) spells or potions.
-The example above pictures a spell. It starts off with a glowing symbol between the shoulder blades that burst into light that forms the mage’s “wings”.
-Spells or potions can create magical infused Appendages that resemble wings.
-I like to think of it like anime transformation that helps boost the mage’s power. Maybe they draw in excess magic from the world around them, fueling the mage’s power.
Do you like Butterfly Irken?
Should be transparent, in case anyone wishes to color it.
