Summary: Dick pinched his nose. He’d started to pick up some of Batman’s habits, whether he realized it or not. “Tim, we’re not talking about this again. We’re talking about how you’re off on this… quest, to prove that Bruce is still alive. And I just want to talk. Come home.”

Tim didn’t budge. “Why did you give Robin to Damian?”

Comments: This is a well done conversation between the two of them - super painful and super heartwarming - and I love love love the idea that in an effort to get Tim to feel like he’s still a part of the family Dick offers up the Nightwing mantle.

Summary: Jason avoided his older brother’s gaze. “My memory is… patchy.” Dick looked alarmed. Jason inwardly cursed, not in the mood to get into the nitty gritty details of his whole life just for Dick to judge and dissect every action he’d done. “It’s not a big deal, though.” (or: trauma affects the brain's ability to remember. Dick and Jason have a long overdue conversation.)

The dog liked going to the park. It was always filled with life. Lovers picnicked together on blankets beneath the willow branches; sometimes they would offer him a scratch and a scrap of sandwich. Parents pushed their children on the swings. There were times when children cried and held tight to his tail or ear as he led them back to the arms of tearful parents, but some days he allowed himself to nip at squirrel tails and doze in the sun.

In all of his years of roaming, he had never before found an angel alone. But there he sat on the stone bench with his shoulders hunched forward and his head hanging and his hands laced together. Timothy felt himself drawn to the man the same way he might find himself wandering toward a lost child, a drunkard trying to find his apartment in the dark, a soul hovering by a newly dead body. This angel was lost, somehow, and it was his job to help him. The responsibility weighed heavy on his shoulders for the first time in an age.

Moving slowly forward, he pressed his nose into the side of the angel’s knee and gave his tail a gentle wag of greeting.

       “I tried my best to open the rift, but I guess I am not that strong enough. I might not be as strong as you thought me to be.” Jack felt really frustrated. The only thing that he wanted to do was to help his friends to get through everything.
