SUMMERS SPENT OUTSIDE THE XAVIER mansion were unfairly dreamlike. Wanda could almost hear them now, Charles and Raven in their youth, screeching gleefully as they raced their way through the fields toward the creek. After that, there had been hundred more— young mutants unabashedly making the grounds their home where acceptance and education were freely and generously given. Wanda knew there were things that needed doing, training and meditations that took genuine focus that she just couldn’t muster on days as tepid and lazy as this one. She’d been covertly looking for a proper excuse to abandon them when Warren, as if on cue, fluttered up to her window to tempt her into playing hooky.
They lazed in the shade now without worry, the image of the mansion itself far off on the horizon line with the dull hope that it might grant them such much needed privacy. Yet with so many telepaths on the property, it was hard to imagine any of what they said or did wasn’t being overheard— on accident or on purpose— but that wasn’t stopping Wanda from offering her feelings to Warren freely. A genuine laugh escaped her at his rather theatric attempts to avoid compliments and she appeased him for a moment, draping her legs over his lap and humming her agreement. “ You’re definitely tasty. ”
Popping another slice of clementine into her mouth, Wanda stretched, her back arching and toes pointed before she rolled up the sit. She tilted forward, crawling indelicately over his similarly sprawled body to take an liberal look. The curtain of dark curls fell over her shoulder in slow motion as she buttoned a line of kisses up the center of his torso, pausing just shy of his mouth. “ You are a prize, ” she corrected, chewing lazily on her fruit where the smile began to creep onto her mouth, “ And my opinion is very well regarded, I’ll have you know. ”
