When it comes to my roster on here I almost make it a point to have as much diversity as possible when it comes to characters. Whether that be their themes or personality or canon origins. I’ve faltered a little on that here and there, as more get overlaps as the roster grows but the end result is still the same. I got a lot of different people here with very different things going on.
Taking Raguna for example, there’s a couple core things going on even if they’re not very subtle. They don’t need to be subtle. Growth, kindness, and tenacity in the face of adversity. In his games he is a ‘blank slate’ protag in many senses of the word. Growing him as a character can go beyond just a personality- how you develop his home and fields and who you associate with yield different things. But a common thing about him is that he’ll never really back down from a challenge especially if someone he cares for (friend or otherwise) is in trouble.
Then you have some of my OCs, like Alder for example. Which can go completely in the face of that. If there was a theme to notice with Alder it would be playful manipulation. He’s not so far as a puppet master like Zeyrfial, but he definitely has a ‘cat-like’ quality of batting things around to see what will happen. He’s a timeless entity seeking a horrific end goal and is filling the void in between now and that point should it ever come.
My other OC Eira probably has the strongest motifs. Setting out to make a place for herself in the world and balking at what others try and lay out for her. She’s strong minded but also stupid in the sense she sometimes can’t notice or appreciate the good things in her life with how her drive for glory can blind her.
