What are your opinions on yanderes? Cus I feel like a lot of the akatsuki members fall into the “yandere” category
Ummm... long, complex answer:
I can see why people could enjoy the yandere troupe. Especially in the x Reader sphere, I think many people find the idea of a person desperately and obsessively in love/infatuated with you self-assuring and all in good fun.
I agree that most of the Akatsuki members by nature, wouldn't necessarily fall into "traditional relationships," for lack of phrase. Most of them indeed have violent tendencies and dark content would be a very natural pairing for that reason.
My opinions on yanderes fall differently based on my very niche experiences. I believe that there can be nuanced stories that include dark themes. However, due to my profession, I am simply unable to get into the more romanticized mindset that I believe most people do when consuming yandere content.
I don't think I'd ever write yandere content that I would promote as yandere content. I think it would put me in a work headspace, and I think the content would be written from too realistic of a perspective. I think because of that, any romanticization of my writings would make me deeply troubled because I've inadvertently linked real-world feelings to a fandom space that I know values the meaning at the opposite end of the spectrum.
This isn't to come off as "holier than thou," for as I've stated, enjoying yandere content is one's own prerogative. Keeping out of the yandere space is one of the ways I curate my own internet experience. I am also unafraid to admit that my work is psychologically difficult and that there are some things I have to do differently to not take it home with me.
