Catching With the Times ~Bucky Barnes Imagine~
Summary: You are new to the Avengers and start to fall in love with Bucky. When you both start to date, you and Peter help Bucky catch up with the modern times.
Author’s Note: So millennials are born between 1982-2000 according to my career/life planning text book.
You were only a couple years older than Peter. You both have been neighbors for a while and have gotten close due to the same interests you both have. When Peter became Spiderman, you figured it out first. When you suddenly got powers, Peter was there to help you.
Peter told Tony and Steve about you which caused the two to help you understand your new life. Most of your training has been with Steve, Natasha, or Clint. However, you haven’t gone on any missions since you were still learning about your new abilities.
When you met the team, they were all nice. However, one had caught your eye. Bucky Barnes.
You stayed at the headquarters overnight due to not wanting to go home for the night. When you woke up, you decided to make pancakes for the team.
“Need help?” You heard. You looked over to see Bucky walking into the kitchen.
“Sure. Can you cook the bacon please?” You asked.
“Sure,” Bucky smiles softly at you.
“How did you sleep?” You asked Bucky.
“It was fine,” Bucky tells you.
“No nightmares?” You asked him. Bucky looked at you in confusion.
“Oh, Peter told me that you used to have nightmares when you first came here,” You tell him.
“I used to,” Bucky nodded.
“Are they about... those Nazi’s?” You asked.
“Well luckily, we have a lot of things now to help you slightly forget them,” You tell him.
“Like what?” Bucky asked you.
“Memes, art therapy, and places to visit,” You tell him.
“Oh right. Um... jokes basically,” You explain to him.
“Do you think you can tell me some of them?” Bucky asked you.
You and Bucky had spent a lot of time together, it shocked the team. The fact that Bucky was opening up to you a lot. Steve was even happy for his best friend was happy again.
When Bucky finally asked you out, you both felt completed. Bucky was careful with you no matter what in fear of hurting you with his arm. However, you assured to him that everything was alright.
“Hey, Y/N,” Peter said, gaining your attention. You, Bucky, and Peter were relaxing while everyone else was doing their own thing.
“I would die for you,” Peter said.
“Then perish,” You tell him.
“Y/N, that’s not a nice thing to say,” Bucky said. You and Peter looked over at Bucky with grins on your faces.
“Bucky, it’s a joke,” You tell him.
“Y/N, you didn’t educate him on modern times?” Peter asked you.
“Well I told him about the LGBT community, the Me Too movement, and cultural appropriation,” You tell him. You told Bucky about the important things that were going on in the world so he could understand them.
“But not Vine or memes?” Peter asked you.
“Just pull up a vine compilation,” You tell him.
“Which one?” Peter asked you.
“All of it,” You tell him.
“What are we about to watch?” Bucky asked you.
“You’ll see,” You smirked before getting cozy.
“Aw crap,” Tony said. You and Peter looked over at Tony with a confused look while the rest didn’t pay much attention.
“What’s wrong?” You asked.
“My bottle is now empty,” Tony said.
“YEET!” You, Peter, and Bucky screamed on reply. Steve and Sam stared at Bucky while Tony, Natasha, and Clint gave you and Peter a look.
“What was that?” Tony asked.
“A vine reference,” You tell him.
“What’s Vine?” Thor said. You and Peter looked over at Thor before smirking at each other.
“Don’t you dare ruin Thor now,” Tony said.
“God I love you,” Bucky smiled at you.
“Cause you’re adorable,” Bucky tells you.
“So are you sweetie,” You smile before giving him a kiss on the cheek.
