If you have been following me for a while, you would know that our marriage started off by being hit with reality just one week into our honeymoon. We knew marriage would not be easy, but we never expected it to be filled with sudden tragedy from the beginning. Our story skipped right over that “bliss” season everyone raves about. Instead of dancing around our new home, we wept on the floor and mourned the loss of various loved ones. Instead of weekend getaways, we attended funerals and memorials. We continued to experience loss for over a year and then our sweet Judah came along...⠀ ⠀ Another beautiful challenge. He was a timely gift of life that God knew we needed after losing so many sweet friends/family members. We fell in love with him, but still there was much to deal with in our hearts...⠀ ⠀ Kyle’s job was demanding, a newborn was demanding, and we did not have a church community to lean on. Those six months as first-time parents were hard work. I was spiritually holding our family together, while Kyle struggled. Meanwhile, I was also figuring out anxiety with a postpartum body. Hello, hormones!⠀ ⠀ But we made it through, persevered, remembered to fall in love again every day, remembered that having a baby is a HUGE gift. Now we are settling into a church and for the first time, finally, I feel like we are b e i n g. I mean, we still have rough days, but just recently I realized, “Hey, we are doing life and we are okay.” ⠀ ⠀ Everything unfolded so quickly these first few years and I wouldn’t change any of it. Sure, we didn’t have that “honeymoon season” but we did make each other better and all the messiness we endured was necessary to further our identities in Christ. ⠀ ⠀ If you have made it this far, thank you. I feel it is important to remain transparent about our life and bless others with our story. Even if it only resonates with one soul! That, alone, is a praise. Also, special thank you to @athenagraceco for re-editing some of our wedding photos and giving me an opportunity to reflect on our marriage. Love you, Friend.
