first encounter with gilbert

"I was relatively young when Gilbert was first adopted into the household, being no older than eleven years old. I had already dealt with Vincent's introduction several years prior, so I didn't think much of it at the time.

Gilbert was... quite the shy and scrawny thing. To my elder brothers, he was another 'chew toy' and another reason to storm into my father's office and demand why another orphan child should be allowed to bear the Nightray name. I didn't voice my emotions in such an aggressive way like my brothers did, (shocker) but I did not like the boy for the sole fact that hatred for the Vessalius had already been taught to me. I had caught word from Ernest that Gilbert had once been a servant to the Vessalius household, and after that, I kept my distance. I disliked him so much that if he and Vincent were to enter the same room I was in, I would promptly gather up my belongings that I had taken into the room, whether it was books or toys, and stormed out.

That was the only time I voiced my disgust. While I didn't viciously attack the boys like my brothers and uncle did, I took to ignoring Vincent and Gilbert and wanting nothing to do with them."
