HKSHSHSHSHS they do stupid and reckless things on a daily basis and it's always Bucky who has to stop them or help them when they get in too far.

How protective do you think Bucky is of peter ?

Hmm. Good question.

At first, Bucky would deny any kind of attachment to the kid Tony often brought to the tower. Until of course they inevitably ran into each other (despite Tony's best efforts to keep Peter away from Bucky) and well, as they have more run-in and talk more Bucky starts to see a lot of Steve in him. Pre-serum Steve mostly. Of how willing he is to put himself in danger to protect others, how small and delicate he seems — and not forgetting how Peter will always throw himself against opponents much larger than he is without a second thought.

It's annoying, really. Once again he's somehow found himself stuck with a feisty little punk.

Seeing so much of Steve in Peter only amplifies the protective feeling he has for him. And as their bond grows soon enough he stops denying it and starts acting like a mother hen. Constantly on his case. Steve teases him for it, but finds it sweet how Bucky has grown to care for him. Even Tony secretly doesn't mind, especially if it means there's more people looking out for Peter to ensure that he's safe.

Oh and Bucky will do anything to ensure his the kid is safe. If Peter comes back from patrols as Spider-Man with even just minor bruising or a cracked rib it's Steve who has to calm him down. To protect Peter, Bucky would fight anyone who dared threaten him. He'd tear them apart before they could even touch him. He always wants to look out for Peter, just how he looked out for Steve when he was just a kid from Brooklyn all those years ago. Maybe it's him trying to cling onto old memories and the past, but all he knows is that he'd protect Peter Parker with his life.

And Peter? Well, he's glad to have people looking out for him of course but he isn't a fan of all the attention. Especially since he's now somehow acquired three father figures who constantly worry for his safety and who would defend him with everything they had.

He's collecting father figures like Pokémon cards he's gotta get em all y'know.

YES, the idea that Bucky sees a lot of Steve in Peter is something that makes me go ahhh, cuz it fuels Bucky's drive to protect him from doing something stupid like Steve did (and still sometimes does) back in the day.

They'd be so concerned and also just, like, “holy shit that kid is strong” but still being protective over him anyway depsite Peter having the strength to hold a literal ship together like that. Peter tells them about it one time, Bucky and Steve would be worried, meanwhile Sam's just like “oh hell yeah kid good for you :)” which earns him a “don't encourage this!” from Steve.
