So...the hardest part of leaving Colorado for me was driving away from the tree-clad mountains draped in fog...and the brief extension on winter weather. It SNOWED most of the weekend!

Winter In The Blood

While reading chapters 13 to 19 in the Winter in the Blood, a lot of key details stuck out to me. The scene that caught my attention was in chapter 15, where the main character strikes up a conversation with the man sitting next to him. Seated next to him, the man talks about how he ripped up his plane ticket and now officially has no way to get home. While this conversation is going on, two men in suits walk in. Right as these men walk in, it instantly reminded me of the bar scene from Men In Black, where the two main characters walk into a bar and have a chat with a confused bar owner. The owner, Wu, was mistreated by having the men in black barge into the bar and instantly start assuming things about him. Wu is assumed to be an alien with little to no evidence given from the men in black. Relatedly, in the book the two men in suits objectify the bartender and talk about her physical features in an ill-mannered way. This scene stirred up a strange feeling in my stomach--not a good one. Both scenes can be seen as rude actions from a bossy customer. Besides that, there are also many similarities to the movie, such as when the man with the ripped up plane ticket keeps guessing where the bartender is from. That is straight out of the Men In Black scene where the device called the neuralyzer makes a man forget his train of thought. What are your thoughts on these connections? My Journey to Coding: After College

My name is Mila and I like making creepy faces in other peoples’ pictures. I also want to learn to code.

 After graduating from Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in Video Production, I moved back in with my parents in Seattle…aaaand I’m still there 5 years later. But that’s okay! My parents are (mostly) awesome. They let me live practically rent-free while I worked a minimum wage job and a part-time internship.

The minimum wage job was at a movie theater and the internship was at Longhouse Media, a production company that focuses on Native Americans telling their own stories. Although the internship was great, I wasn’t getting what I wanted out of it. Unfortunately, I had no idea what I really wanted. So, I continued to coast for a year, sweeping up popcorn at the movie theater and interning.

In August 2011, an opportunity arose through the internship to go to Havre, Montana for a month and work on a film set. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go at first, but then I looked around and realized I had nothing else going on in my life. So, I quit the movie theater job and hopped a ride to Havre! The film was called Winter in the Blood. My role on the crew was the craft services person, aka the snack lady. Watch the movie. Look for my name in the credits. Do it.

My experience on the film set was fine, but it showed me that I didn’t love filmmaking enough to move to Cali to spend my life on film sets. Now that I wasn’t pursuing film, I had to get a real job.

In October 2011, somehow I got a job at Microsoft as a video game tester. And that’s the beginning of my journey into the tech world...

Winter in the Blood (Official Trailer) I met Chaske Spencer back in 2010. I was definitely at my hottest, thinnest, most self destructive phase of my life. I knew we had a big star staying at the Resort on my reservation but I didn't think twice when at 9 am came a room service order for Steak and Eggs. I delivered it to a darker than usual room and a hot shirtless guy. Did I mention tall? I love me a tall dark handsome man. I sauntered in and set his stuff on the table, as he motioned me to do so. His trunks were just thrown on, not zipped, buckle hanging on both ends. A very sexy moment in deed…just wished I knew he was THE Chaske Spencer, I would have asked for an autograph…or maybe I would have been super shy and acted goofy, then he might have found me repulsive. But an hour or so later, he came into the restaurant to meet someone, and he stared at me, walking back and forth, just stared. "SOMETIMES THE MEMORY IS MORE REAL THEN THE EXPERIENCE"
