Shout out to my friends dealing with snow! 😅 #WinterInTheTropics #Beach #dominicanrepublic (at Juan Dolio, San Pedro De Macoris, Dominican Republic) https://www.instagram.com/p/B8URdUVHzBj/?igshid=1811grxlvs85q
It's still as warm as summer in Norway, but OMFG. I'm freezing to death. My tropics-climatized body can't stand any temperature lower than 23 degrees. I'm not far from buying wool socks and mittens. They are selling real winter clothes everywhere in Townsville these days, and it's been in store for a couple of months. I'm not laughing that hard about it anymore...
They told us that there wasn't any autumn, winter or spring. Only wet season, from November to May, and dry season, from June to October. But man, it keeps on raining. What up, dry season?! I'm certain it's going to snow this year.
One of our family members, Chris 2, moved out and left town yesterday. Feels weird. Like it's the end of an era. Sandra and I (basicly only Sandra, when I think about it. I just made green pea stew, a fantastic stew. I must say.) cooked a typical norwegian dinner the last night he was with us. Meat cakes with brown sauce, creamed cabbage, potatoes and my stew. That was nice.
I just had to mention that.
So.. Later today Sandra and I are going to Magnetic Island again. I'm finally doing my open water course this weekend! I'm really excited about it. I'm going to dive! Under water! With oxygen tanks! Yaaaay! I just hope I get a thick stinger suit or wet or dry, or even a heating suit, so I wont turn into ice.
We are driving to Brisbane next week (yay, we bought a car!), which will also be exciting. But driving south equals even colder weather. Smart move.
But yeah. We are meeting up with Sandra's family in Brisbane. They arrived in Sydney yesterday and are going to drive up the coast. We're staying in Brisbane for a few days and we've paid for a guided tour to Fraser Island. Hopefully we will visit a theme park near the city as well and of course do some shopping.
The plan for july, before the second semester starts, is to drive to Cairns and go on a liveaboard a few days and do some diving there as well.
So even though I haven't completely managed to escape from winter by moving to the tropics, life is still pretty good. I just have to put on more clothes than planned.
