Recap: Winter NAMM ‘18

Now that I’m over the jet lag...

Woweee where do I begin with this one! As previously mentioned, I had the opportunity to attend the Winter 2018 NAMM Show. Not only did I attend, but I also worked our very own MusicMax Distribution booth (14104). So technically I was an “Exhibitor” at the show, which was pretty cool! As you can see pictured above, we were there to promote our two foreign lines that we happen to distribute here in the United States.

Fredenstein (Pictured Left), was German Engineering at it’s finest, is manufactured in Tapei, Taiwan. I’d like to point out that Fred, The German Engineer, lives in Taiwan. WesAudio (Pictured Right) is Polish-Engineered Analog Sound, with Digital Control.

My role during the entire show, was to set up the booth before-hand (and tear down after), including routing all of the audio so that attendees could walk up to one of our “flagship” products and demonstrate themselves how the gear actually worked. I actually chose to tackle this by setting up a small Focusrite RedNet rack behind the banners, so that I could enable each piece of gear as a Hardware insert within Pro Tools. I chose to simply use multiple AM2′s as sends equipped with headphones for simple hear back of the channel.

So as you can see here, Fred is talking to another exhibitor about his products. Both Fredenstein and WesAudio both manufacture state-of-the-art 500 Series modules.

Aside from working at the NAMM Show, I also had the opportunity to attend meetings with our manufacturers COMPLETELY outside of the show itself. These meetings included private meetings in conference rooms, completely doors shut, NDA’s signed and all. So I CAN’T go into details, Sadly. I can say this, though: Marshall is going to change the game, without a doubt. ;-D

I also had the pleasure of attending a few of our manufacturer’s private Rep dinners in which awards for the year were given out. My favorite one to boot was the Galaxy Audio dinner, in which R. Joseph Group, Dan and Matt (Salesmen for R. Joseph Group) took home awards for Sales Excellence and New Dealer Growth in 2017. This also happened to be the first time I tried Thai food as well. Not too bad!

SPEAKING OF FOOD.... I tried so many amazing new places. Picture above was an All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ. Twas’ one of them fancy places where you cook the food at your table.. Did I mention it was All-You-Can-Eat? I also tried The Crab Cooker, Fred’s at Huntington Beach, some out-of-this-world Sushi spot, and even In-N-Out Burger!!

Needless to say, I had the time of my life, and met so many new faces (familiar ones too!). The hard part was differentiating between Work and Fun... So I guess that means I found my passion, right?
