Cranberry Snow Scones are a tasty treat that go well with breakfast or afternoon tea. There are sweet dried cranberries all over these scones, and the orange zest gives them a hint of citrus. They'll add a little winter magic to your day for sure!
Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 tablespoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed. 1/2 cup dried cranberries. 1/2 cup heavy cream. 1/4 cup sour cream. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Zest of 1 orange. Powdered sugar for dusting optional.
Instructions: Start by heating the oven to 400F 200C. Put the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl and mix them together. Mix the cold butter cubes into the dry ingredients. You can use your fingers or a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it looks like big crumbs. Add the orange zest and dried cranberries and mix them in. Mix the heavy cream, sour cream, and vanilla extract together in a different bowl. Add the wet mix to the dry mix and mix it in until the dough comes together. Spread the dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead it a few times until it comes together. Make a circle out of the dough that's about an inch thick, and then cut it into 8 wedges. After getting the oven ready, put the scones on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper. Bake them for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown. Take it out of the oven and let it cool a bit before, if you want, dusting it with powdered sugar. Enjoy your warm Cranberry Snow Scones!
